Gran Canaria Beaches

Tarajalillo

Playa tarajalillo is a forgotten abhout beach for most of the year, frequented by a few fisherman during the week and the odd local at the week-end. It's a dark volcanic sand beach with a lot of pebbles also quite windy most days.

As you can see it's not the most appealing of beaches, it's surrounded by rubble, abandoned, crumbling houses and unapealling wasteland. A few meters further back though is a camp site. Again for most of the year it looks like a place caravans go to die, abandoned almost but July and August it fills up and thanks to a lively atmosphere the area doesn't seem so bad. This isn't a beach we'd recommend but as we're including all the beaches in our guide.....

One last interesting point is the chances of this area being developed are quite high. In 2014 plans to build a marina, shopping center, 9 hole golf course and several 4 star hotels were turned away due to strict building laws which have since changed so the next company that comes along with a similar offer may have more success.
