This winter running through late October 2015 to March 2016 Norweigan Airlines are making available 100,000 seats for travel between Gran Canaria and mainland Spain.
Their offer is for daily flights to Madrid, flights to Barcelona Mondays, Wednesday and Friday and Malaga Friday and Sunday of each week. The base fare to Madrid will be 24.30 euros, Barcelona 24.80 and Malaga 28.80, that is cheaper than flying betwen the Canary Islands themselves. Norwegian are already one of the major carriers to the Canary Islands from the UK and Europe bringing in 10,000 passengers a week. This is very welcome news to residents here who have seen prices of flights to the mainland double over the last couple of years.
Recently Monarch Airlines announces plans for an increase in their fligthts to Europe for summer 2016 with an 'extra' 3200 flight so an additional 600,000 seats and have added more flights from Manchester to Gran Canaria.
Jet2 is another company addiding to their flight schedule for Gran Canaria with a new service from East Midlands and Edinburgh to the island.
All in all it should be easier and cheaper than ever to fly to Gran Canaria from this winter, here's hoping ...
