Gran Canaria Beaches

Taurito

Once (and maybe in the future, who knows) a blue flag beach, Playa Taurito is a dark sand beach on the south-west point of the island. The beach though it doen't have a breakwater it is in a bay and protected either side by cliffs so little wind, rarely a strong tide and gentle sloping sand into the water.

I believe as there's currently no blue flag there's also no lifeguard on duty, obviously that would change if they apply again for the blue flag. Otherwise there's disabled access, toilets, showers, sunbeds, water sports, diving and a choice of restaurants and shops. The hotels and apartments that face over the beach welcome none-residents into their restaurants/facilities.

Taurito itself is a small tourist resort between Puerto Rico and Mogan so there's a good bus service every 20 minutes or so and if driving the new motorway extension goes all the way to the resort.

A popular attraction a few meters away from the beach is Lago Taurito, a water park. Entrance is around 14 euros per adult and 5 euros for kids 12 and under.
