The Drag Queen competition has grown so popular over the years that there are now too many entrants for the main event. Tonight everyone presents a shortened version of that they plan to do and the final 12 are chosen for the main Drag Queen gala in a few days.

The idea is for each competitor to come out in an elaborate Carnival Queen costume, the more extravagant, the bigger the better. They usually have dancers with them. After the first minute or so pretty much all of that costume comes off and generally very little is left ofr part two where contestants dance in platform shoes 20 inches or so high.

After this event there's all night street parties, dancing and music until the early hours of the morning. Head for the "chringitos". Although it's Tuesday tomorrow it's declared a holiday so nobody has to go to work.
