One off the most spectacular nights of carnival is electing the queen. Amazing costumes several meters high and wide that are so heavy they have their own transport system incorporated so the candidate can move in it.

This is followed by all night music and dancing both in front of the main stage in the Yumbo and along calle Esados Unidos, the street that runs along the side of the yumbo and is now closed to traffic and full of stands selling food, drink and playing music. Plenty will arrive for the night time party dressed in costume.
