Puerto Rico - Day Activities

Amusement Arcades
1 Known locally as a "salon de juego", they can't be easily missed with the noise they create. Open from early morning to late at night, they are all located within each of the three shopping centres here. For Ping-Pong you'll need to go to the back of the Centro Commercial as this is the only public table I know of. Otherwise, all the others are pretty much standard with slot-machines for gambling away your spending money, various arcade and video games, rides for the smaller children, pool tables, "test your strength" games and look out for the Spanish bingo/pinball machines!

Mini Golf (1)
1 Open 10:00 until 23:30 every day Prices € 3.50 per person
A popular pastime this one as there are three courses already and a fourth on the way. You'll find one located close to each shopping centre. If you're a mini-golf freak, don't play the 18th hole until you're really ready to go home. After hole No.17, start again at No.1. It's hole No.18 that swallows your ball and won't give it back, hence end of game. They tell me this was built for kids but I beg to differ, children are outnumbered 5 to 1 here at least.

Mini Golf (2)
Open 10:00 until 23:30 every day Prices € 5 per person
Opened January 1999 this newest mini golf is located opposite the front of the main, central shopping centre and again has 18 holes and is based on a Neptune/Ocean theme, complete with waterfalls, fountains, huge statues, shipwrecks and surrounded by a flowing stream. Again, loads of fun, nice and busy and spectacular to see, especially when floodlit at night.

Playground
1

Open 24 hours I guess as it's in the park near the Centro Commercial shopping centre, by the bus stops. For the little kids there's sandpits, swings, slides, a roundabout and climbing frame. For the big kids - it's all too small to play on, sorry, go do something else.

Tennis
1 Open 08:00 until 22:00 every day Price €10 per her until 6pm, then €12 per hour. - Puerto Rico has two groups of tennis courts, the first down in the park closest to the Centro Commercial and the second up by the Europa Centre at the top of the main hill. The one down in the park is the newest, the courts being in excellent condition and you even have your own umpire's chair! & night lighting. There are four courts, which can be booked in advance, being heavily booked most evenings. Rackets available for hire and balls available for sale. Open 08:00 until 22:00 every day up by the Europa centre. Five courts here could each do with resurfacing but they aren't bad enough to effect the bounce of the ball much unless you're in the top 10 world tennis rankings, then you might notice the difference. Bring your own rackets and tennis balls though up here. Your umpire will have to sit on a regular bench.

Squash
08:30 - 22:00 every day €4 until 6pm then € 5 per hour.
If you want to play squash, you'll have to get yourself down to the park next to the Centro Commercial shopping centre where the tennis courts are. Alternatively, there's daylight, there's courts up by the Europa Centre open until around 6pm each day. It's here you'll find three squash courts, hidden away by the ticket booth. There are three courts with the back wall being made of glass so everyone can stop and stare at your game. The courts can be booked in advance and prove popular every evening so it's advisable to book ahead. There's also "Frompton" courts there too.

Gym
1 Open 10:00 - 22:00 Monday to Friday, 17:00 to 21:00 Saturday
Costs €8 per day (come and go as you please all day) or €30 per week.
The only gym here is located in the main shopping centre (Centro Commercial at the bottom of the hill) and on the side of the park, about half way along the centre. Easy way to get there is walk through the park towards the back of the center and cross over the last bridge. Everything you'd expect from a professionally equipped and run gym, huge range of equipment, spacious and modern, qualified instructors, various classes including hour-long arobics sessions, a sauna and airconditioned throughout (except the sauna of course!).

1Fishing

You don't have to go out on a boat to enjoy the sport of fishing. Very popular passtime with the locals here too, we seem to have a lot of good spots near to the beaches to set up for a morning, afternoon or the entire day. Bring your tackle!
