The "Yumbo" Center |
This is probably the largest of the commercial centers in Playa del Ingles and right in the middle of the resort. By day it's suprisingly quiet - built on four levels and around huge, open-air square on the bottom level. By day there's still a good choice of restaurants and a few bars, though most are closed until late afternoon. The "Visanta" electrical shop (which offers guarantees and refunds, unlike the rest), kiddies play area and lots of souvenier shops plus all the major Spanish banks are here. By night the center comes alive as hundreds upon hundreds flock to the huge choice of restaurants and bars. The Yumbo center is the main destination for the gay community and holidaymakers so most of the restaurants and bars are "gay friendly" with the row of bars on the very top level being almost exclusively gay. From around 10pm onwards the "La Belle" bar on the ground level is very popular with everyone and famous for their cabaret (drag) show. From around midnight on the first level the nightclubs open, all of them being gay clubs, open until around 5am weekdays and 6am week-ends
