if you are flying gatwick - madrid - las palmas with one airline do you have have to check in again in madrid ( I realise your bags go automatically through,in theory)

They'll tell you in Gatwick. If the two flights are on one booking then the airlines are affiliated with each other. When that's the case no second check in.

its my son who is travelling alone from lisbon to LP with a stop in madrid. (he has a flight first from ponte delgado to lisbon but with a separate airline). I wanted to be able to tell him not to worry about checking in in Madrdi. I'll remind him to ask.

Ahh - which are the two airlines?

hes flying ponte to lisbon with TAP. They want an authorisation form from the police to say he is allowed to travel alone. Thats all sorted.
The next part is all with Air europe - check in Lisbon. Then go to madrid. 8 hour stop over, then home

so its with the air europe part really. I've told him to ask if he needs to check in again in Madrid.
