Last night we went to the opening night of this new restarant - Saffron - in Puerto Mogan. Its just along from Waypoint, on the esplanade on the beach.
Their concept is a 'fusion of mediterrnean cooking' and as the owners and chefs are Egyptian and Spanish I was very excited about how the food was going to be.
We were given a series of taster plates - hummous, tapanade, stuffed squid, prawns done in various ways and then the main course was a barbeque on your table.
Ceramic bowls with charcoal in a metal bowl inside, with a grill on top. Your mini meat/fish/ prawn kebabs arive cooked but you warm them through or cook them more, if you wish on your own barbeque. Spiced rice and salad came too. Dessert was a warm melon (strange i know, but very tasty) filled with icecream and sauces.
All in all a lovely meal and something very different to the usual. I didnt see the normal menu and so dont know the prices but were told the prices were reasonable.

Did you happen to get any pics of this place? Does it offer any sort of entertainment? We went to a lovely restaurant in PDI 2 years back that had Jazz style music playing which was really nice...

We're flying out on 14/12/09, are staying in Taurito and are looking for somewhere nice to go out for a meal one night...we have hired a car so travel no problem...

They have a musin licence until midnight and they are proposing to have various acts to entertain. WE had belly dancers and a fantastic singer they had flown over from Barbados - Jay who had sung with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.
Your mission for your holiday will be to go and try it out and post some photos on here!!
