Hi LAura

We are going to Cala D'or on 23rd JAnuary. This is our twelth time at these appartments and I can only describe them as excellent. the appartments are spotless with the maids coming in about 4 times a week with clean towels bedding etc. They even do your dishes. They did have 2 rings and an oven but this year they took out the oven and replaced it with a microwave. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The entertainment is average but it depends what you are looking for. There is a new guy there so I can't really comment on that much as he arrived last JAnuary as we were leaving. The appartments are not too far from the commercial centre, down about 160 steps or so, easy enough to go down but we always get a taxi back about 1.70 Euros, not much.

I think any of these appartments you have been offered will be excellent for you as they are all within the centre of P.R.

Need any more info on the Cala D'or let me know. Who knows maybe see you there.

Hi we've stayed at the EDEN a few times. It is a THOMSON SUPERFAMILY complex. The rooms are well maintained, clean and well equiped with fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle.
The bar staff are fantastic, can't do enough for you and excellent with kids. Food from the bar is really good and reasonably priced. The pool area is fine but no shallow end! always something going on around the pool - waterpolo, quizes etc.
Everytime we've been it has been packed full, with kids running around everywhere(hence, superfamily) till late at night, entertainment is the usual - Elvis, Abba tributes comedy etc but all family friendly, this stops around 12pm so it's not noisey after that.
I would recommend this accomodation if you have kids.
Hope this helps.

I stayed at the Canaima for a few years it is a 10 mins walk down steps to the Main Center and a few Euros taxi ride to the Europa Center, The Manager is a bit abrupt but alright when he gets to know you. It is basic and clean ,a small shop next to the main office with every thing you will need. I found a couple of photos on Bryan and Chris’s site regular visitors to Gran Canaria

Cala D'Or is great accomodation. Not too big to be impersonal. Clean and good accomodation. Nice pool area which creates a friendly atmosphere.

Entertainment was OK and varied

Just returned from these apartments, and on the whole not to bad, however wouldn't be my first choice in future. Been going to PR for many years and found the complex very, very noisy. I know you will all scream "well your on hols", true but we were by the pool area and the entertainment went on into the early hour's and we have kids who couldn't get off , sometimes this went on until 2.00 am.

Place was clean. good location, and seems very popular, remember we all look for different things.

This post is a bit old but I'll add my comments anyway for future reference.

I used to be a rep at the Canaima and I can honestly say that this is my favourite hotel/complex out of all the resorts I have worked in. Unlike some of the bigger complexes, such as the Cala'Dor (sp?) the Canaima has a bit more character. The manager, Miguel, makes Basil Fawlty look mild in comparison but it can be very approachable if you don't give him unnecessary grief (unfortunately, his interpretation of grief varies on a daily basis!). The bar-staff, Leo, Fernando, Paco and are very friendly and I used to tell my guests that although the hotel is 2 star, the staff are 5 star. The accommodation is very basic but it was refurbished last year and most people commented that the rating for the Canaima should have been higher than its current 2T. The apartments have all the basics you would expect for self-catering and are very 'homely'.

By far the biggest complaint about the Canaima is the amount of cats on the site. There were about 18 cats and 5 kittens when I was there and they beg for food all the time. The main causes of this are guests feeding the cats, even after I repeatedly advised against this in my Welcome (3 times a week!). If you have children, then I suggest you keep them away from the cats, especially the ginger 3 legged-cat (I'm not making this up!). Kids usually go straight for his gammy leg and he lashes out. I was once admonished by a guest for not warning guests that the cats can scratch you (who'd have thought?). . .

The pool is small but very rarely packed out, and the food is very nice (if a little too 'English' for some peoples tastes). The centre of the resort is a 3 minute downhill walk from the complex, but I advise getting a taxi back up, especially on a hot day, unless you're looking to lose a lot of weight during your holiday. There is no entertainment to speak of except a BBQ and karaoke on a Wednesday night during the summer season (no big deal, but I used to do it every week in my own time because George the entertainer was such a lovely fella and it was usually a really good night).

There was the odd complaint about music blaring from the resort late at night, but I think a lot of hotels had the same problem.

There was the odd guest that disliked the Canaima but overall, a vast majority of my guests loved it there.
