Just a question of time really before it had to go, still we'll get our next holiday in before charges come into play in Nov:- http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/70421836-9bff-11df-a7a4-00144feab49a.html
Slighly positive outcome of the charges being introduced is free annual multi trip holiday insurance for all customers paying in at least £750 a month into their current flex account.

Get yourself a halifax Clarity Card. It's a credit card but has no foreign fees or cash withdrawal fees. I have asked and they say if card has credit balance, can be used to get cash abroad with no charges. And no charges for purchases. I haven't tried it yet but plan to give it a go in September.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! does the halifax clarity give you the business rate exchange?? which makes all the difference if you are withdrawing money abroad..................if not then even with the new charges you are still quids in with the nationwide

According to the credit expert man in the News of the World (can`t remember his name) the Nationwide card is no longer free to use abroad.

that is correct to a certain extent whilst the charge started worldwide back in May it still remains free in europe but soon to change.

I tried both the rbs card and nationwide card in mexico back in may and the nationwide won hands down
most banks will not give you the business rate as nationwide do so add this in to the equation prior to using an atm

the post office offers the classic card which has no charges and like the others it does not give you the business rate which still makes the nationwide the better option unless you are running back and forward withdrawing a few pounds at a time.
