Just to help you all order a coffee in one of the more spanish type places, here are the various types that are available

Cafe con leche: a mixture of coffee and steamed milk - usually in a 50/50 to 25/75 ratio - served in a large cup. Like a cappucino without the froth.
Spanish tend to have this for breakfast.

Cafe cortado: servd in a little cup. Black coffee with a dash of steamed milk. - or a cortado largo - same but double - still in a small cup.

Cafe solo - black coffee - in a tiny cup

Cafe solo, down in the South, usually comes up as a black coffee, I like expresso, so need to ask for cafe expresso to be sure.

Well i have invested in an espresso coffee machine.I love sitting on my balcony in the mornings drinking a delicious espresso coffee.Once you buy one of these machines, there is nothing worse than someone making you a "Hideous" mug of nescafe! "quality" should be provided in small amounts(well almost.....lol)The Italians and Spanish really do know how to make a great coffee.

Jules and I love Spanish coffee in any form. It seems to have a lovely earthy flavour that no other coffee has.
Mary, what do you call those lovely expresso type shots with the Brandy in. When I workrd in Barcelona the Spanish had them for breakfast. Had to join them, seemed rude not to! but we used to call them, "on of those wot 'es got.

I see that Marcus is my man here! I was going to have my coffee machine (expresso, cappuchino, all kinds) brought over here by my husband when he came, but he found that it is too big to take as hand luggage (won`t fit in the shelves above the seats), so it is still at home. However, I am thinking of buying one here. But, here comes the point, I have been looking and looking, but can not find any coffee beans around here (Maspalomas, PDI). I wonder if they are difficult to get... anyone know? Nothing like a coffee from freshly ground beans...

When we're over "TIRMA" Colombian blend is always high on the shopping list, makes a great cup of coffee. A simple cooker top expresso pot can be purchased from most supermarkets from under 10 euros, very easy to use. Not worth the hassle taking one, we always by a new one!!!

Also, cafe con leche leche. Small coffee with ordinary milk plus a little sweet milk (condensed milk) Or also cafe con leche condensada, (Coffee
with just the condensed milk)

To buy in to use with your coffee machine and in most shops.
CAFE SOL (cafe molido tueste natural) the best ive found yet and only about 1 euro 35 cents the packet The packet is pictured with coffee beans all over it,in gold and brown, plus a yellow label with a sunburst sign
on it, Absolutely delicious coffee.

Best way to learn things, By mixing with the locals, I love my cafe con leche condesada. with carnival tortilla. (little canarian minature pancakes)
Anyone want to try those? go up to, DA PIERRO pizza restaurant right outside pueblo mogan just before the turn up into the mountains,on the right car park on the left opposite- ask for PEPA the canarian owner and she will be delighted to make you some straight away to go with your coffee, More than a pizza place this one i can tell you. Husband is italian, Best pizzas around all home made.My man loves the CHURROS with his.

you can buy Coffe beans from the big supermarkets like carfour or al campo. The choice is very good and if you are not to keen on the Canarian Coffe taste, you can get a European style coffe which is carefor own brand.
We are complete coffe addicts, and we brought our coffe-expresso machine with us. We like to try different brands, and it is great fun experementing. I could never go back to nescaffe or instant coffe, and when i was in England this last week i suffered the first few days withdrawel symptons. Not many places do Expresso

If you are up very early and go into vecindario back streets from the atlantico shopping center, You see the canarians having there breakfasts
in the locals. (An education in spanish ways,) Big coffees, massive plates of churros, they all dip the churros in their coffee, just like we dunk biscuits at 11 oclock. The smell of coffee there is wonderfull.

Our friend the owner of "Cafe Sol", its there biggest brand here. You can get it anywere on the island and the ground coffee is all freshly done up here in the factory in Las Pamlas. (Los Torros).and sold to El Campo, Careforre, etc ... It has many flavours and types and its local so go on give it a go!!!!!
Support Local Produce..........

For those who live up here the Vegenta shop you can choose your beans and they will freshly grind them on the spot.

In the electronic department from Carrefour you can get a grinder. Bought one myself some time ago when my full automatic coffemaker was broke. Dont need it now. (Typical) But it is there if i need it again:D

Strange that they only had one sort of coffe beans. I mostly find at least 4 different sorts, but sometimes they are low on stock. They havnt had my favorite for quiete some time now, but i like caffe sol too. If you like something different, try a fresh coffe witha sprinkling cinamon or nutmeg. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm delicious
