We have just stayed in Melonares for 2 weeks where we found the place to be wonderful, we had spent the last 5 years in Pafos Cyprus and could not have chosen anywhere better when we looked for a new location.

My Borther in law and myself walk in the day a lot with the girls preferring to stay by the pool.

The first night everyone turned right and we thought let's turn left and walk past the lighthouse to see what is on the beach front (literally).

We came across a bar called Paddy's Irish bar with an absolute to die for location and view.

The bar was extremely busy with football that night and we could not get in, myself and my Brother in Law visited the bar the next afternoon and spent a fortnight of visiting the bar everyday and some nights.

The whole atmosphere of the bar was delightful and a real cross cosmopolitan of nationalities passing through in the daytime and when the football was shown in evening a pleasant atmospehre with a real cross structure of Football fans passing through.

Darren and Vicky the bar owners are extremely friendly and could not do enough for us, no matter what our request was. We also met Helen and Mark who were just as welcoming.

When you take into Account that you sit at the bar or outside with sand and the sea as your view it is hard to find a nicer place to visit and enjoy some cold drinks the warmest of hospitality and a great sandwich.

The choice of beers was good with variety and the Guinness was exceptional, you can tell that there is pride not only in the standards but the work also it takes to maintain the products.

Prices were very reasonable as we visited many places around the area.

Just wanted to say if anyone visits Melonares make sure you take a look at the bar and enjoy all that it has to offer. :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

Great to see the reply.

Me and my bro in law visited some lovely places whilst over in Gran Canaria.

You are right Melonares is a little bit of class and the people there were very nice, there were lots of boutiques which added some class and we never ate a bad plate of food even on our economy nights in the area on the beach front.

We visited PDI and I have to say it was not for us, it is probably 10 years out of date and needs a lot of work as I thought walking round the standards were a little poor, however the beach was nice.

We also visited P. Rico the harbour area was very nice, we did not do the main square as we were on our way to Puerto Mogan passing through Arguineguin.

Mogan was absolutely beautiful, Little Venice I think they called it.

Just had to post to say I agree wholeheartedly with Manchester about his review of Paddy´s Bar. We found out about the bar through Mark one of the friendliest and pleasant PR´s for a bar you could hope to meet (yes decent PR´s do exist!) and once inside the service and welcome from the owners Darren and Vicky could not have been better. The crack in the bar was great and the setting simply stunning especially late at night. If in Maspalomas I really recommend you try Paddys´Bar you wont regret it.
