Hello there,

I'm going to be holidaying gran canaria in a weeks time and cant wait! I was wondering if anyone had any advice tho? Im going to be bringing my surfboard with me which is 7 foot six inches and am concerned about getting a transfer or cab from the airport?! So far all companies have said no and have told me i would need to hire a mini bus:( Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated as I dont want to part with my board before I go it would be worse than not going at all!

Thanks and look forward to hearing from anyone!

I would'nt have thought you'de have any problem taking your board on the public bus, they have a cargo hold just like the transfer buses. Simply ask the driver to open the flap and load up. Full details of buses and stops can be found on the "Global Sur" website. Have a look also on this site to see what Owen can do for you, as he's in the know. Also look through the G. Canaria home pages also on this site for more information. As for surfing Las Canteras beach right in Las Palmas has great waves and is always full of surfers. Also a lot of people surf near the Faro (lighthouse) down at Maspalomas, as your obviously aware of wind is the major player in these situations!!

Thanks for the advice Big Tony! Unfortunately due to our late flight times we are unable to get the bus. How would I get in touch with Owen? Would I just post another thread? Im really looking forward to checking out the breaks there itll be nice to be able to go for a surf without catching frostbite! Ill be sure to look at the lighthouse so thanks for the heads up!

You can get in touch with Owen via his travel agency - details here http://www.islascanariastours.com/transfers.html. They will be closed until Monday now.

Or via the PM message system on this board - just address it to Owen
