Try this out.
The cost for a return flight to Gran Canaria from Manchester is £669 return end of June, if you book one way there and back on same dates you can save £200.
We have just booked two one way flights and saved £200, 11 nights at babalu for £198.
P. S. Any rugby fans in Puerto Rico on the 4th July, the wife and I will be in tiffs for the last game of the Lions tour in South Africa kick off 15.00.:boozy:

Do you save money if you do it all away from the travel agents ? we have always been on package holidays as a family of 5 ..

More and more people are becoming independant travellers and finding it is cheaper to book it all themselves on the internet. You will have to do a lot of research but it might save you some money in the end.

Absolutely you do!!!! I have been booking for years now doing it myself.I used to go through travel agents, however as a lone traveller got constantly stitched up with 'single supplement' costs.WHAT A MUG I WAS!!
It is so easy to do it yourself once you find a few good accommodation and flight websites and save them in you 'favourites' list.
Tour operators prices are overinflated, also because you are paying for things you don't necessarily need or want, such as the services of a rep once in resort, and if you have been travelling many years to GC you could probably tell them more than they can tell you!!!!!!!

if you go onto a site such as thomas cook or via canary forum (top of page), you can book apartments etc on their own/independently
then look on skyscanner and see if the flights are cheaper.
After you've done a few quotes and got what you want, you can see which works out cheaper for you.
Travel agents will do packages - but the flight time or airport may be bad for you or a good flight but the accomodation isnt great.
