Yes, it is worth going to see. You can also take the opportunity to visit Vecindario, the town where it is located. Very long shopping street running through the centre of the town. If you are looking for non-tourist style shopping, you won't be disappointed. Typical Canarian town.
Bus Number 01 will take you to the town of Vecindario. It is a relatively short walk to Atlantico if you get off the bus at the correct place. The journey time can take between 1 hour 10 minutes up to 1 hour 30 minutes depending on number of stops and time of day.

Atlantico is fabulous, lots of great shops and the best is Carrefour! Carrefour is similar to a huge Asda with more and the prices are excellent for most things. If you are self catering I would recommend a trip here early in your stay.

It might not matter now ! 10 inches of snow in Dumfries and little chance of me getting to airport if this does not lift. Both glasgow and edinburgh intl airports closed, so there will be delays tomorrow ! Bl***y nightmare

Absolutely right, we always stop with hire car straight from airport and load up with goodies on way to PR, saves a few pennies, and a lot more variety than Netto/Spar etc.
An evening trip is nice too, spent a lovely couple of hours there last week watching the Barca-Chelsea game amongst the very vocal locals while the ladies in my life endulged in a little retail therapy! :D

I would advise you not to go on a Saturday, very, very busy. There are cinemas in there as well, if you're interested. Went to see Memoirs of a Geisha in Spanish ... my first time in un cine espaņol! But they have original versions sometimes, I just haven't been able to find out when!

yelmo has a website where you can find the vecindario branch which then gives you the screenings. There is a link on the tips and info website. They have 2 films a week in version original. The cinema is usually empty so when we've seen an english film, we've had the place to ourselves.
Things do take their time to come around but a nice thing to do. Last summer we went a few times as it was somewhere airconditioned to pass a very hot Sunday afternoon

just visited the atlantico shopping centre found it very busy as it was their xmas sale and the tills were going ding dong in most of the fashion shops.
saw a thing in a pet shop that really made me feel sick they had puppies in very small glass cages for sale, to me this kind of thing should not be allowed as it is very distressing and totally uncomfortable for the poor pups to be caged in the manner they also looked as though they had been given some kind of calming drug. can anyone tell me what happens to these pups when the store closes they surely cannot be left locked up in there can they???? and on a positive note I saw some of the best baby clothes shops I have ever encountered on the lower floor. we also visited the huge decathlon sports shop up by the airport almost bought a canoe if only I had had more time to paddle it home half the price they are in the uk. wish I had time to visit the long pedestrianised shops a few blocks further up. its a big thanx to big tony for taking us on this little tour it was a nice change away from the tourist areas.

We happened upon this pet shop when we were out there, if youre looking at carefour infront of you its behind you in the corner opposite on the right. We went the day we had planned to go to Palmintos park, and ended up at Atlantico because it was i thought quite expensive. The girls enjoyed looking at the animals, the owner took out the pups and let the girls pet them. Those pups we saw are long since gone im sure, but whilst we were there a lady and a young boy bought a white poodle type puppy and to be honest it didnt look as though it may poor thing last too long after. It was in a right state shaky and ill looking, you know not the brightest little thing at all. Which is heartbreaking for it , and its new owners.
They have the animals in small cages, and glass boxes and its quite dark in the shop, so maybe not the best start for any animal:no:

A canoe you say, i thought i was impulsive. I saw a gucci logo scooter helmet in carfour, and if i had a scooter that would have been coming home with me, i did buy (i know) wiper blades/arms for my car only euros. We also bought those huge rubber rings instore and they were cents rather than the euros in puerto rico. If you go beyond the shopping centre out the back there are two high roads with many many shops to have mooch about in.

We went up on Friday, wasn't too busy and managed to park easily underground.
I said exactly the same thing to my other half about the doggies in the pet shop. Do they take them home at night? If they don't sell quickly and get past the injection stage, do they take them outside for walkies? The french bulldog puppy looked sooooooo sad I could have taken him home right there and then. ( but at 1100 euros, time for some serious thinking!) The beautiful ****zu was constantly circling about in his glass pen, I couldn't watch them for long, as lovely as they were. Just hope someone buys them quick and gives them a good home.
