This has got to be the last time we book for the 15kg luggage allowance. We’ve just done a trial pack so we can weigh our luggage and were over 5kgs. So now we unpack everything back on to the bed and decide how much of “MY” stuff we don’t need to take. I wouldn’t mind but I’m only taking t-shirts, shorts and my usual toiletries. There’s no way you can take the kitchen sink on 15kgs I told her. So I’ve left her upstairs deciding what she want to leave at home, then it’ll be time for another trial pack and weigh. Time to hide in the garden somewhere me thinks. LOL:no: Daz

The new luggage allowances are mad and Big Craig was telling me he had his hand luggage weighed for the first time ever and then they charged him for that being overweight too! When will they realise us woman need all those clothes, spare clothes, just in case clothes and maybe clothes!

You women should make do with two changes of clothes and a box of soap powder in a travel on bag. Plenty of big rock and sea water for washing clothes around the harbour area.

Down boy !!!!!!! only kidding !!!!!!! she'll kill me. LOL

Second run and were only 1 KG out, getting better.

anyone weighed the case empty ?.one of ours was nearly 3 kg,another smaller one was 1kg,so going to squeeze everything into the smaller one and worry about the creases when we get there.

We're with easyjet, 20kgs each and unlimited hand luggage weight. Still struggling with the cases and gettin stressed. I arrange the cases so that if one gets lost we could manage for a good few days no probs. last time we took the mums, they took very little so all the cases were weighed together we had about 28 each that was great. So the solution is to take someone along on holiday that travels light.

when we use globespan we buy the extra weight 10kilo for £15 well worth it on the way out. takes away the stress and worry we also book our seats and it makes all the difference to trying to be first in the line for good seats................ok its extra cash to do these things but my motto is to make as good a start to the day as possible.

also bought one of these canvas bags which is 4kilo lighter than the big bertha I had. so gives us plenty extra for the chocs neeps haggis morgans etc, etc, etc, we carry over.

anyone need anything brought over lol.

oh!!!! and as mary says your hand luggage is included in the globespan total allowance of 20kilos

I agree the actual case can weight loads before you even start to pack.

All sorted now, taking just the one big case and a small bag. Had to take out some of the food she'd packed to get it down to 30kgs. Time for a can or two to chill us out and acclimatise for tomorrow.

I'm never over either - don't know how but we use a squashy bag with wheels rather than a case. I now buy most of my toiletries at the airport or in resort which helps a lot even so last Oct we bought extra to take us up to 25kgs (for those essentials you can't get in PR - Daddies sauce, fruit gums - you know who you are!) and even then we came in at 19kgs each on the outward leg.

Think the rule is - pack what you want and then take 50% out.

I must be the exception..we're never over..total of 20kgs each..just don't take so many shoes...and I never take a hair dryer. We're always less on the way back as case is usually crammed with requests from residents and still it's underweight!

I find this all " rather disturbing! " why do you need to bring so many clothes?
I shall be returning to " THAILAND " ( " The Land Of Smile" ) very soon and i will be travelling in t shirt and shorts,a baseball cap, and the daily newspaper.
What else do you need????

Last year we decided to save money and not pay for additional luggage allowance - never again the stress was simply not worth it. All our clothes are locked up in our apartment but I forgot to make a list of whats left so it will be a suprise when we get there next week! Our cases are usually full of tools but this time we have curtains!

Were coming out this week and weve an allowance of 25k pp, we are doing 7 days on a cruise then 10 days in Mogan. Ive put a bit of everyones clothes mixed in with everyone elses cases incase any on the bags/cases get lost along the way, and in our hand luggage ive put spare clothes. Ive got my travel wash which is a godsend you only need a little to go a long way. As it just under 3 weeks we will be away we are definately using our allowance to the max.:tinysmile_grin_t:

On one occassion we came out on holiday with first choice and stayed on so booked and flew back with Thomsons. Coming out we had 20kg and returning Thomson only allowed 15kg luckily they didnt ask for anymore cash at the weigh in, funds were low.

In Cyprus we met a couple in the check in cue coming home who had been staying at our hotel, and it was the first time we'd really spoken as they too had a hire car so had arrived at the airport early like us. We all had our big cases whereas these two only has two really small to medium rucksacks. Theyd been on our flight out and had stayed two weeks like us but had nothing, so I asked. She said no thats all we have just these bags, and went onto explain how they had something like three t shirts,a trousers, a shorts and i tell you all here no lie 3 pairs of knickers and she said one on, one off one in drying (id say that as a joke) they werent joking. They were a nice enough couple but did they smell a bit wiffy close up really none too fresh. Inside the airport there was a cat, he kept circling the pair and trying to sit in thier bags, to which they kept shoeing him away. Then they sat with us at the gate waiting urgh!!!
