Just thought I’d mention the 19th Hole, not far from the lighthouse in Maspalomas. Even though I always stay in Playa Del Ingles when in Gran Canaria, every time I’m there I always have to go down to Maspalomas at least once, to eat at the 19th Hole. It’s an Irish bar that serves food, and I’ve always been extremely satisfied every time I’ve eaten there. The food is great, the staff is very nice – and in the evenings there’s also live music. I must admit I haven’t tried out any of the other restaurants along side the 19th Hole, because every time I come back I just won’t risk not getting the good experience I know I’ll always get at the 19th Hole.

The food is, as I’ve already mentioned, really good, and the prices are not that bad either. To begin with I thought that it had to be more expensive being in an area that certainly looks a bit more posh than most places in Playa Del Ingles, but when I’ve compared it I see that it’s pretty much the same. So if you want a recommendation from me in Maspalomas, this is the place to visit.

Another two weeks now and I’ll be eating there again…

Yip I agree with you ! - Was on holiday in Maspalomas at end of January (but at the PDI end of Masp) - because the weather was mixed, we spent more time than usual wandering about, relaxing and from time to time we were down at Maspalomas either wandering about the great shops or else we wandered off the beach after a couple of hours and we went into the 19th hole a few times. Nice friendly staff and great food - not too expensive either. Soup of the day (or Sopa del dia) was always great, so were the baked potatoes lol - was usually just a snack we would have and have dinner later, but was always good.

Whenever we go to that end of the island we go on the beach, camels of just down on the rock pools messing about.

This is one of my fav bars/ resteraunts to stop at when we are out in the day. They are so friendly and helpful. And the food is always fresh and well presented. Theyve a lot of choice on the menu and I always look foreward to and have the burger, chips and salad. The chips are fresh thick cut not frozen and the burgers are always thick juicy seasoned and meaty..lovely. I wouldnt normally pay/have burger and chips out here, but the ones served here are gorgeous. And so large I have on many occasions eaten the chips and salad and wrapped the burger and put in my bag for later. My mother doesnt drink often but will treat her self when we are on hols, we were in that bar having a late lunch and the waiter bought her bacardi, he put down a tall glass with ice then poured from the bottle she was supposed to say when, she had a full glass of bacardi (elderly people eh- selective hearing/understanding kicked in ) they didnt charge us more for it.I had chocolate cake off the cake stand, I tried it plain, with cream, tried another piece warmed through just didnt like it and they didnt charge me for it. Weve only been during the afternoon will have to try in the evening. Its nice they sometimes have live tradditional music to listen to or to even if you dare join in the dancing, and youve a sea view out the front. Definately would recommend going.

Only let down was the loos, theyre down some quite steep wooden stairs. Can be trouble if like my mum youre not great on youre feet, add bacardi to that and youve no chance me and Graham had to help her down holding a wing each.:tinysmile_fatgrin_t

Just returned from Gran Canaria & although we were staying in PDI – we much preferred Masplaomas for our evening entertainment.

The 19th Hole is excellent and became our bar of choice – very professional with friendly waiters and great entertainment.

We caught Gerry Lane a few times & by golly does he work hard !!! A 3 hour set !!!

The atmosphere in the place is excellent & there is a real cross section of nationalities which certainly helps.

Well worth a look at & we will certainly be back.

Although staying in PDI

At night time we much prefered to go to Melonares - much classier & nicer than PDI - really enjoyed a bar called the 19th Hole - great performer called Gerry Lane - he's on 4 nights Thurs, Fri - Mon & Tues and the other nights different artists.

Many different nationalities creating an excellent atmosphere.

Taxis including tip were no more than €6 - a absolute snip.
