Digraceful scenes last Saturday. 600 people old and young kids crowded in to a tiny space as only two goons were checking passports. They were taking an age to check every single passport. So much for european union.Hillsbrough dissater came to mind.Only the good manners of the passemgers avoided a riot. If this is what future of travel they can stick it.

Must be a looking for someone or else they have a new boss. I arrived on 25th Feb and it was exactly the same, 4 or 5 flights had landed together and that queueing area was packed. It was the same getting home, after check in, getting through security on the morning of the 4th March took ages

I left on the 6th March and it was exactly the same, so much so it made the flight ¾ of an hour late departing.

It was the same last month. It took over 20 mins to clear our flight, about 130 passengers through Passport Control.

Flying from Dublin I hadnt had a smoke for 7 hours, so once the passengers got of the bus from the plane we all lit up before going through passport control. The Police came and chased us all into the building pointing to the non smoking signs. I thought they were going to hit us all on the legs with their batons like naughty schoolkids.

At least on the flight back out from Las Palmas there is a smoking area, upstairs at the VIP Lounge were you can have a quick puff before boarding.

But is the alternative that someone who shouldn't do gets in or out of the country?

I'd rather wait in line to have my passport checked than find I'm on a flight with a nutter.

The problem was three points of entry and one point of exit with no control of the crowd, not so much the wait.I have experience of crowd control at big events and this is maddness.Too think of the money we tourists put into this island a little respect for our safety is not asking a lot...

Where's this VIP lounge and how do you get into it?

once you are through passport control etc into main terminal,
turn left, you will find the steps that lead upstairs (in front of toilets)to vip lounge and smoking area (outside on balcony)

When we arrived on the 28th Feb. there was no passport control on duty here in GC.
Don't remember that ever happening before.
