We have at long last managed to book some self catering accomodation at the Green Golf Bungalows in Maspalomas. We have never been self catering before so we hope we enjoy it.
We will be going for Christmas and New Year and would like some recomendations for places to eat - we are quite fussy!

Last Christmas we stayed in Tenerife and managed to find fantastic places to eat (even though we were in a hotel, and had paid half-board, our reason for wanting to try S.C)

We would love to be able to find a carvery which doing a cracking roast beef! Maybe somewhere for a good steak, some English 'pub type' food, maybe Italian/pizza place - we don't like Indian, Chinese or fish. AND OH OF COURSE! - an all day English breakfast with back bacon and not that yucky streaky stuff! (Just for hubby!)

We obviously would like to hear about places in Maspalomas, but would also like info on anywhere in PDI, we are slightly familiar with the PDI area as we stayed a few Christmases ago in th Gran Canaria Princess, but it was a few years ago!

Also does anyone know what the maid service is like and is there a pool towel service? I understand they are being closed for part of this year for a major refurb, so hopefully everything will be sparkly and new, and in working order!

Thanks in advance, I'll be writing this all down so if you could tell me where abouts these places are!

There are a few breakfast places in Faro 2 which do typical English breakfast. It's about 10minute walk from Green Golf. If you like Mexican - Lucky Lukes in Faro 2 also good - having said that I didnt eat Mexiacn, I was very boring and had chicken but my partner had Mexican and loved it. The only thing was we didnt go there until the 2nd last night and wished we'd been sooner.

Green Golf is a nice place to stay, simple accomodation but nicely laid out, kitchen has a fridge, two hobs and a kettle with all the utensils you would expect to get. The pools there are lovely and we would definitely stay there again although I have ot say that the locationof your room is important as some face the pool and some face the golf course, ask for a room between 1-17 that's the quieter end of the complex but pool facing and really nice.

For food Faro 2 is a short wak, it has a huge neon sign that you can pretty much see from just outside green golf so easy enough to find. There is a great Italian in there that does super Pizza (think it's closed on Mondays though?). Down at Meloneras there is a wonderful Grande Italian restauant that does brilliant food and the 19th Hole is a nice irish pub with english food.

Try some of the great local dishes too though! we always have prawns in garlic oil or mushrooms in garlic oil for lunch with bread, they really know how to use garlic out there!

Have a fab time!

Thanks for the replies, it's good to know that there are reasonable places to eat close at hand.
Do you think that we would need to try to book somewhere for christmas day as soon as we get there? We will arrive on the 22nd (i think).

Also about the room, my husband loves golf so wanted a course facing room. I also read some reviews where people say these are the only room which get any sunlight? Do you think this is the case?

We liked our room because it didn't get the sun and stayed cool! So I guess both have their good points :) Golf out there is great, your husband will love it!

Yes I think we'll both enjoy self catering and especially my husband as he'll be so close to the golf course!

Thanks for your help.

You have chosen a very nice complex, I have been there 13 times was there last March 06 and I'm going again 16th sept 06, answering a few of your questions:- there is no pool towels and the maid sevice is good, the food there is also good especially the lunchtime sandwich menu, there are 2 fab pools and the bungalows opposite the golf course I find are the best if you like the sun all day. Eating out:-Italian there is a nice one in the faro 2 Michael Angelos, on the Maspalomas beach there are some nice resturants and bars, get a taxi to take you to El Faro (lighthouse) and you can't go wrong. In pdi there is a fab resturant El Gauchos you cant go wrong there. Xmas in the green golf I understand is very nice they have the dinner in the nite and father xmas comes around on a camel, xmas eve is their night off so there is no bar or food. New years eve is supposed to be brilliant, entertainment in the night is low key. I cant wait to go as they have revamped the complex, will let you know what its like when I come back, but I know I will enjoy no matter what.:have-fun:

Hi Conway,
We were over in Maspalomas in June we usually stay at Sandy Golf Bungalows which is the sister complex of Green Golf across the road.We went over to have a look and were suprised to see that both complexs were being totally renovated Green Golf was just a shell. We asked around and were told that both locations should be ready to take guests again mid August so you should have nice clean re decorated complex to go to.
Have a good time

Thanx!
Do you think you could have a look whilst you are there to see which rooms get the sun on the garden space/patio area. We've been told different things, my husband would like a golf course view but only if the balcony is sunny!
Looking at the website it even gives you room location and numbers.

Although it's a nice little complex Sandy Golf is very insecure. It sits alone on a patch of ground protected only by a wire fence, planted with pine trees. A quick stroll around the complex reveals plenty of holes that have been cut in the fence, undercover of darkness the trees provide cover for sneak thieves (scumbags). I was robbed there one night, after falling asleep on the patio with the doors open. This was very negligent of me I know, but drink great weather and good times take over. Fact of the matter is security in this place is very poor. The morning after a walk around the perimiter revealed fresh footprints in the dust at one of the holes, after searching around the area I soon found both my wallett and the wife's purse minus their cash.
After returning home I e-mailed Cordial (complex owners) pointing out their poor security fencing complete with it's many holes, but had no reply!!!
It's a shame we can't go on holiday without the threat of these scum of the earth trying to ruin our well deserved breaks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JAY KAY
24th September 2006, 04:41 PM
Have just come back from staying at the SANDY GOLF and stayed there several times and have never had any bother or heard of any robberies while there, I agree the fence is not a good security defence, but where ever you stay there is always that chance of being ROBBED security or no security. there was security there this time and they were walking around the complex throughout the night, and on the gate watching people entering.

Hi, My wife and I are off to the green golf bungalows in Maspalomas for the 3rd time on 16th Oct. We heard about the refurb and that it was meant to be open mid sept but we contacted first choice in Gran Canaria today and was told 2nd oct. Does anyone know any different ? Has anyone seen the outcome of the refurb ? Counting down the days....21 days to go.........

JAY KAY

just come back from their sister complex sandy golf yesterday and the refurb there was fab, they have taken the baths out and put shower cubicles in, modern furniture and the bedrooms had 2 wardrobes where there was only one before, had a quick look at green golf, (as I normally stay there) could only see the outside they have painted the bungalow in terracotta and yellow, fromm what I was told it is opening oct 1st but only half of it, if the sandy golf is anything to go by then I asume the green golf will be fab as well. Have a brill time and let me know what its like when you come back, Please give NELLIE my love from J, she will know who I am.

We are going to Sandy Golf on Monday (23rd Oct), does anyone have any experience of taking a baby to there? ie was the cots ok? and was there a baby pool, ive only seen pics of the big pool. How far will we be from the nearest supermarket? and also how long will it take us to walk to the beach and nearest restaurants? sorry for all the questions, and late postings, only came across this forum whilst searching for weather forecasts lol. Thanks Michelle :rose:

We took our grandaughter to Sandy Golf last year, free cot supplied ordered in advance. (Same type as portable ones over here). Beach is a very long walk, use of the free shuttle bus provided is the better option. Supermarket and bars/restaurants are a short 5-10 min walk away in the Faro 2 commercial centre. Pool is heated during the cooler months to a well acceptable level, if I remember correctly there is also a shallow circular baby/toddler pool as well. You will also have full access to the sister complex Green Golf with bar/restaurant, 2 other pools and a small mini-market directly across the road which is handy for essentials like water, bread and daily paper.

When you check in you are given a bus timetable and free pass. I should'nt worry to much about evening transport as taxi's are very plentiful and also very cheap!!!!

JAY KAY
22nd October 2006, 03:44 PM
think free bus goes every half hour or every hour, the walk to the beach takes about 30 mins its a nice walk, walk to the main road turn left you will see the princess hotel to your right cross the bridge take a left you will pass the camels keep walking until you come to some small cafe and shop on your left there is a large pond, keep going until you come to the beach, further along there is some bars/cafes then the lighthouse, further along there is a more upmarket cafe/bars and the Varadera shop centre, the green golf has a small supermarket ok for essentials, the faro 2 cc has bars/resturants/shops end a bigger supermarket. If eating out try Michael Angelos top of the faro 2, and El gauchos in pdi, have fun.

Jay Kay,

sorry for the bother again but I've been looking on Google Earth and am a little worried about the remoteness of the bungalows/apartments which face the golf course and the security element of this.

Do you think I would feel safer if I requested a room which faces in towards the pool? (I assume from the plan which I can't seem to get onto now that the bungalows are back-back)
If so which would be the best side for the sun on the balcony, oh yes and is the balcony upstairs off the bedroom or is it a patio?

Ta Conway

Hi Conway,

Just thought I would chip in a a bit to help with some of your queries!

I have been staying on and off at the Green Golf for a number of years now, and yes - you are right to have concerns about security - but I would say no more so than any other holiday complex there. From my experience although the GG is a little isolated it is in the main VERY SAFE as it has security gates which have to be opened with a card issued to you upon arrival, but bear in mind that during the daytime the entrance to the bar is open which allows anyone thorugh so be mindful of that. However, I would say that as long as you are VERY CAREFUL when it comes to locking doors and windows EVEN if you are at the poolside or out and about and take the option to hire a room safe placing your valuables away out of sight you should be fine.

Just to let you know that in the past there HAVE been incidents of items stolen from bungalows by opportunistic thieves who have nipped into bungalows where the patio doors have been left open by holidaymakers lounging by the pool, so be careful as I say, but the warnings about hiring a safe and locking doors is no more strongly advised at the GG than anywhere else so dont worry too much!

Although the bungs overlooking the course are a bit out of the way I stayed in one there a while back and had no probs there. some of those bungs get good sun, however I am not certain which - maybe JAY KAY can help out with this?

The poolside bungs are lovely as they get good sun during the daytime, however if you like privacy and relaxation DONT STAY IN ONE as they are- by virtue of being poolside- quite overlooked and a bit in the throng of things. You may well, however, psychologically feel safer staying in one by the pool.My advice as far as bungs to avoid are ANY THAT FACE OUTWARDS ONTO THE MAIN ROAD as you have a view solely of a wall and green mesh fencing covered in foliage which peeps through to parked cars.AVOID- IF YOU CAN-LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

Yes indeed, the bungs are back to back in a kind of oval shape around the complex with the lovely, large pool centrally placed, which is beautiful now following the refurb, particularly at night. The bungalows have both a balcony going straight out from the bedroom upstairs, though it is only small with a clothes drier to dry your towels after the beach/bathroom!

The bungs ALL ALSO HAVE A PATIO AREA with table and four chairs. Following the refit the bungs are now very modern - furnished entirely by IKEA products - and look great, so I am sure you will have a comfortable stay there.

Hope this all helps and best of luck.:nodding:

hi conway only just seen your post, never had any bother with security with bungs opposite golf course they are the best location as you get the sun most of the day, just make sure you keep your doors and windows locked when you're out, and be carefull if you go upstairs and leave the door open, thats the problem they just sneak in and take whatever they see, while there on one occasion the husband was asleeo on the sofa and the wife was upstairs drying her hair and somebody just walked in and took some items, hope you have a brill time and all your questions are answered anything else let me know, please pass on my regards to Nellie, just tell her J from Wales.

Green Golf Bungalows
Maspalomas
Gran Canaria
21/12/06 – 01/01/07

We chose the Green golf bungalows for our first self-catering experience. The location for us was great, we had a room which overlooked the golf course and had sun all day so were able to sunbathe on our own terrace as my husband went to the pool and collected 2 sun beds from there.

I think we were the first people to use our room since the renovations as certain things hadn’t been tested and weren’t working, however these were fixed within a few hours of our arrival. The room was nicely decorated having modern fresh furnishings and new fitted kitchen and bathroom (although you wouldn’t pay a penny for the awful workmanship in your own home! You could do better with your eyes shut! I don’t think with the quality of the work it will stay new for long.)

The pool area was hardly used, I think that only about 100 apartments out of the 270ish were being used as loads were empty and low level work was still taking place (this didn’t disturb us 1 iota where we were situated).

Our first couple of days had patchy clouds; the remainder of the holiday was bright sunshine, although very breezy. It does drop much cooler when the sun goes down.

We ate in the Faro 2, 3 times during our stay, we ate at piz-paz, michael angelos and the very last steak house right at the top of the spiral. All of these were quite good, but we found the food and choice to be better in Playa Del Ingles, which is where we went for every other night of our holiday.

We either got a bus or a taxi in the evening to PDI and went to a variety of places to eat, the best being El Ranchos / Papa Joes, Cosmos in the Yumbo Centre and the Britania English restaurant when we needed our bacon fix!
Most of our drinking time was spent in the Yumbo centre at a place on the ground floor called Casa Juan, the drinks were cheap with great service and even though there wasn’t entertainment as such you could sit and watch the world go by!

We had a great time and would definitely stay in the same apartment again, although it would be interesting to know where the Cordial Bungalows are in PDI, if they were in a quieter area I would consider those too.

glad you enjoyed your stay at the green golf, the refurb in the sister complex sandy golf was bril, have'nt seen the green golf yet but hope to in July, anything that is not working is put right pretty quick normally, if you had seen the bungalows before the refurb you would have been surprised at the improvement. entertainment is very low key, but as I can see you went to EL GAUCHOS and MICHAEL ANGELOS, what did you think of them?
Did you go to the Maspalomas beach on the boulavard with the resturants and bars? and also did you go to PUERTO MOGAN.
what did you think of the bar staff?
Friends of mine were there over xmas and new year, maybe you met them, Rose and John and family from just outside Birmingham.

We went down to the sea front and went in a few bars but ony during 1 windy day and not at night.
To be honest we only had 1 drink in the complex, that was 1 evening when we came back a little earlier than usual, so we didn't meet anyone in the complex other than our swedish neighbours!

We enjoyed all the food except 2 places which we went to which were in Playa Del Ingles. One which was on a corner down the road from the Gran Canaria Princess, the other was in the Yumbo Centre and I can't remember the name. When the waiter came to the table to take away our virtually full plates he wasn't going to ask if everyhting was ok, so we complained. (otherwise we wouldn't have bothered) he was quite rude and bought us our 6 euros change all in 5 cent pieces, of which we didn't leave any!

We went to Palmitos Park and had a lovely day, as parrot lovers and owners it was great and the last time we were there was 5 years ago.

Hi there
I know some of these have been discussed in this thread but I just wanted answers for all in one go!
I am going to the golf green apartments in september (2007)
And I have a few questions if anyone could help??
(thanks in advance!)

1: I get the impression from the pics that you seem to be living very closely together - do you still get your privacy?
Also are the walls thin? Can you hear your neighbours?

2: Facilities inside the rooms - I guess there is no hairdryer?
And the safety deposit boxes - are they within the rooms or at the reception. (I am aware you have to pay extra when you get there)
We will be taking things like personal stereos etc and of course would like to keep our passports secure whilst out and about.

3: We are going to be arriving at about 10 at night - is there a quiet bar we could have a drink at before turning in for the night?

4: First morning we will probably eat out for breakfast - what is the nearest and nicest place for an english breakfast?

5: We will do our first shop for food after breakfast - where is the best place to go to get basics and food for breakfast and snacks - without having to walk miles?

6: Are there plenty of places that serve english - steaks etc - more pub food - as my partner hates italian, pizza anything with cheese!!
Does anywhere do fresh fish and chips??? (haha! I know! but he is fussy!)

7: which excursions do you highly recommend we go on?

8: And finally (sorry for all these questions!) Do you find out your apartment number when you get there only - can you find out before hand which apartment you will get???? I guess not!
I am dreading getting an apartment facing the road! =(

Thanks so much for your advice!
Jo

Firstly the bunglows are fairly private with your own terrace and small garden, we have been going there for 8 years and have never had any noisy neighbours, there is a safe upstairs in the wardrobe, but no hairdryer.
The FARO 2 cc is a 10 min walk with bars resturants and shops they are open until early hours of the morning and you will definatly find a quiet bar, also that is where the supermarket is. You will get a good brecky there as well. Plenty of places do english food and you will find plenty of steak houses in the resort. You will not know the number of your bungalow before you go, but you can fax them and request a golf course facing bungalow which gets the sun all day. Excursions there are plenty which you will probably find out in the wellcome meeting, Puerto Mogan (little Venice) is a must.Anything else you want to know just ask.

What date are you going?

Sounds great!
We are flying out in the afternoon on the 10th Sept (from east midlands) and back in the early hours of the morning on the 18th.
We were hoping to request longer stay in our apartment on the last day as we have a late flight - but the travel agent said there was no option - probably not available... I will probably ask when we get there if possible.
Looking forward to it!!
Havn't been on holiday for 6 years!!!!
I might pop into the travel agents and ask about the golf course facing room.
There was options to choose from like if you want a pool facing room etc - but I did not realise at the time!
Thanks again

Hi Jo, You will not know your bungalow until you arrive, like I said you can fax them to request a golf course view and they will do their very best to accommadate you, As for late departure if you ask them the day after you arrive they will probably tell you to ask them again the day before or on the day of your departure, they will do their very best for you. I think it is 20 euros to keep the bungalow until departure. If you go to your travel agent they cannot guarantee pool view etc. you will get the sun all day if you have a golf course view they are really peacefull. We are going 9th June (roll on) and we normally go for my birthday 11 sept, depends on hubby if I can persuade him to go. Entertainment is low key but there is many places to go

My parents are thinking of booking a holiday to the Green Golf, but they have seen somewhere on the internet in reviews that there is a steep ramp near the entrance gate thats near reception, is this true and do you think they would be better booking in an alternative resort, because my dad is a little unsteady on his legs -
Many thanks for your advice.

Hi bhx_er, Have just come back from there today. There is a ramp on each enterance of the GREEN GOLF, personally I don't think they are that bad, The bungalows are duplex bungalows, kithchen/liveing room downstairs bedroom/bathroom upstairs. Why don't you take a look at their sister complex SANDY GOLF directly opposite everything about the complex is level, kitchen/livingroom/bathroom on one level probably be more suitable for you. Its a really nice resort peaceful and relaxing, and not to far from the bars/ shops. Take a look at their web site www.cordialcanarias.com (http://www.cordialcanarias.com) I take it you have'nt yet booked, When are you going? Anything else you want to know just ask. Just to add I have stayed in both complexes over the last 8 years about 15 times between them.

Hi - I'm hoping to go in October to Green Golf. I'm booking a 2 bedroom apartment - any idea where these are situated in the resort as I'd prefer a south facing sunny one.

I'm booking via the cordial site which is 702 euro self catering - any views on the B&b option - is it worth it? Is it cheaper to book elsewhere (this is the e=best price i've seen).

Any help would really be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Brian

Hi All,
came back from our hols at Green Golf Maspalmas on the 18th Sept 07.
Spent a week there.
Please go here for some pics: http://www.jodesign.co.uk/grancanaria07/ (http://www.jodesign.co.uk/grancanaria07/)
Any questions about the place please ask away.

Only down points I found about the accomodation was that you dont get a kettle in your bungalow! We had a cruddy coffee maker which was not nice! so had to boil in a pan.
The walls are a bit thin (we witnessed neighbours coming home late and arguing at 2pm in the morning! - first ngiht there)
Also the beach is a bit far from the complex - a good 30 min walk in stiffling heat! we got a taxi for 3 euros on the way back each time.
Also maid service is very good but of course made us a bit jumpy because she seemed to come around in the morning at 10 and so you had to make sure you were up and about else they let themselves in and shout at you that they want to clean! (only happened once - so since then made sure we were up!) So for all those of you who want a lie in keep that in mind!
Also was not impressed with Faro shopping centre! Very odd place! And not much there.

Besides that a great holiday - I had the holiday blues when I was coming back, really wanted to stay another week! I was REALLY depressed! :sadguy:

Possibly would not go back to that complex just because not much to do and the beach too far away...

Jo

Hi Jo - thanks for the review & the pictures.

We are going on 18th Oct - can't wait. Did you have breakfast there - what was it like?

Hi Brian

We never got up early enough to go and get breakfast!!! (lazy sods! haha!)

I am not sure if you could have breakfast at the complex - they had a snack and dinner menu in the bar area - maybe they did - like I say never up early enough!
We normally did toast in the bungalow when we eventually got up!!

When we went for meals though we noticed alot of places did breakfast at the Faro shopping centre.
Cho Juanillo at the top definately did as we saw the menu.

We found a great place down the beach which did bacon butties and they also did breakfasts too - we went there a couple of days for a snack at lunch - you walk onto it from the beach and its a walk way through to the other restaurants. They had high tables and seats and you could look out to the beach/sea. The waiter there was just him and he must of had such high blood pressure running around seeing to everyone. I cannot remember the name of the place. It might have been called Pepe King or something like that.
Its great if you just want a quick snack instead of going to a restaurant after being on the beach. Very reasonable price! And they do the big pint glasses of cola.
If you walk to where the life gurads are at the beach (big hotel gates on the other side of the path) past them up the steps (past the toilets) and then round and down into all the restaurants its a walk through to your left past some little shops. Or if approaching from the beach there is a shower outside to wash your feet from sand right outside and you walk through.

See pic attached - this was an image someome else posted on this forum - it was next to this place I think. (paddy's bar)

Hope you have a fab time! =) :thumb:

They do breakfast in the Green Golf think it's about 6 euros for a buffet breakfast, tea coffee juice, cereal, cold meats crusty rolls, toast, bacon or sausage (alternatate days) scrambled eggs/hard boiled eggs fresh fruit, you can eat as much as you like and go up for second helpings. You have to go to reception for the breakfast voucher. The lunch time sandwich menu is very nice hot dogs burgers toasted sandwiches approx 2euros 70cents. they also do a-la-carte lunch and evening meal menu, and also a buffet evening dinner. The restuarants on the Maspalomas bolovard are very nice they are the ones in front of the big hotel to the right of the lighthouse as you look at it. There is a courstey bus every half hour i think from outside the complex which takes you to the beach and back, we often walk down and get a taxi back. the bungalows are very nice after being refurbed last year, and there are kettles there (which i found in the cupboard) when we went in June, toaster and coffee machine. there is a safe in the wardrobe in the bedroom. We are going Nov 12 but we are staying this time in the Sandy Golf opposite (their sister complex) as we are taking the grandchildren and the bungalows there are one storey, but everthing there is exactly the same as the green golf. We have been going to both complexes over the last 8 years (sometimes 4 times a year) and have always found the staff etc very helpfull, if you do not want to be disturbed by the maid in the morning just put the sign on the door to DO NOT DISTURB, we have never been in bed when the maids have let themselves in.
If you like to go on excursions go to PUERTO MOGAN a very pretty harbour with restuarants and shops, Friday is very busy there as it is market day, you can get there on the normal buses for 2-3 euros and get the ferry back to Puerto Rico and the bus back from there to Maspalomas.

well we definately had no kettle and I asked the holiday rep about it and he said no one has kettles there.

Also we had the 'no distrurb' on door when we did not want to be disturbed and the maid still let herself in!

We were never told about the breakfast at the complex! Sounds fabulous!

Can't believe you did'nt know about the breakasts, did'nt the rep tell you anything? and to say that no one has a kettle we have always had one everytime, and i'm sure if you enquire at reception they would have supplied you with one, as for the maids coming in the bungalows in the morning again we have never had that problem as we always use the sign, and leave the key in the door.

Back now! We had a fab time!!!
The cot was downstairs, so my husband stayed downstairs and I was upstairs with my son!
We had an appartment right by the pool which was cold!! But started to heat through a few days before we left!
Best holiday we've had in years going to book for next year!!
It took us days to find our kettle!! Its in the cupboards under the breakfast bar!!!! Which were very well hidden!!!

Hi Leevi, Have just booked yesterday to go back to Green Golf in Sept, always stay there or their sister complex Sandy Golf. Both had a refurb June 06, Green Golf has 2 pools, the bungalows are duplex (upstairs beedroom/bathroom, downstairs kitchen/liveing area) with terrace and a small garden. Was there last, June 07 and sandy golf nov 07. Don't think you will regret your choice. Anything you want to know about eating out places to etc just ask. Also take a look at my previous replys they might help you also. Have a brill time.:have-fun: Take a look at theirweb site gives you pictures. www.cordialcanarias.com

Hi - I agree with Jay Kay - Green Golf is a lovely complex with a super pool - ideal for the gold course next door. Apartments are small but perfectly OK - I stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment which was a bit bigger. Duplex style.

Food so-so - I went half board but the breakfast wasn't especially tasty but for the price it was OK. I know that food is a personal taste subject & others may have enjoyed it. The lunches were quite nice , actually - usual burgers / pizzas etc. There are plenty of really good restaurants down by the lighthouse which is a 20 minute or so walk (or take the bus which goes several times a day).

The main tip I would give , helpfully suggested by others , is to try to get an apartment bordering on the golf course because they are (1) sunnier & (2) quieter (there is a road running along the north of the resort). The key is to fax the resort beforehand & request it - they are usually helpful , especially if you join (free) the cordial canarias club (www.cordialcanarias.com (http://www.cordialcanarias.com)).

Sandy Golf is the resort across the road & is quite a bit smaller - good place for the internet & for borrowing books.

brian/jay kay , thanks for the info found it very helpful,i have recently joined the cordial club ,just waiting for a reply to my request for golf course side accommodation. is the road on the north a real problem ie very busy and noisy?as we live on a busy road and would ideally like to get away from it,for two weeks.
thanks lee

Leevi, directly in front of the bungalows on the north side is wire fencing and then the slip road where people staying or working at the GG park so that is quite busy during the daytime with cars and taxis going in and out as well as delivery trucks for the restaurant/bar. This slip road is set down from the main road which is directly behind the slip road wall and yes, this again is quite busy during the day with taxis, mopeds (which I find to be the noisiest little beggars) and coaches carrying people in and out, plus the free coaches which pick people up and drop them back from the beach.

Having stayed in one of those bungs facing these roads myself I would strongly advise you to try your hardest to avoid one as its not a great place to be , also due to the fact you get crap all sun during the day and it is a rotten outlook when sitting out on your terrace! The golf course bungs are by far the nicest......good luck.

Hi Leevi, Here are the numbers of the bungalows I always request, they face the golf course and get the sun all day. 26-37 49-54 61-66 131-141 169-172 still facing the golf course but not directly on it, as you have bunglaows opposite these numbers, 184-188 161-164 165-168 114-109 97-102 some of these are pool facing. Go to their web site www.cordialcanarias.com (http://www.cordialcanarias.com) click on green golf and go to virtual visit there is a plan there which you can zoom in on. Also fax the green golf direct fax no. 0034 928 774 038 with your request, the cordial email address goes to their booking dept and they do not always pass on requests to the green golf. Hope this helps.

I am a GC green golf addict, have you been to GC before? Anything you want to know places to eat and go etc? They are all in my previous posts, but if you want to know anything just ask. when are you going?

We stayed here and its lovely. Definately a 8 out of 10.

The first thing the girls saw when we arrived was the extra large pool that runs the length of the complex of which the gardens, grounds and flowers were immaculately kept tidy. The white appartments are well spaced out in small blocks, theye verandas on the ground floor and a balcony above and all around the door ways were climbing flowers really pretty.Inside was also tidy, the lower floor we had a tidy kitchen/dinner sitting area with a pay as you go tv,telephone, and loo and upstairs two bedrooms and a bathroom. They say sleeps 6, in our case there were us two and the girls and i think maybe 6 adults would be a push.

We went start of May and most of the people we met werent english maybe spanish and the like, and they were families so we'd all sit out whilst the girls had new friends to run about with. The pool is huge as i said was clean and really inviting, not heated and the shallow end was where it warmed up a bit and the girls went in there.

The staff were really really helpful couldnt do enough for you, they had a free shuttle bus to Faro and to the beach throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was available but we never ate there, we were self catering so stuck with that, but meals did look nice. They have a shop onsite just outside the main gates and Faro/maspolomas for other shops or a mooch were just as quick to get to in either direction. They did at night have entertainment which also was enjoyable.
They always had someone on day and night in reception, which was next to the locked main gates,to get in youd use your room keys.. At night the complex was low lit and every so often you see staff doing the rounds checking. Id definately recommed this to anyone, we had a lovely stay and time here.:tinysmile_fatgrin_t
