Do you mean Porto Novo, opposite the harbour. We stayed there a while ago. Its got 3 or 4 floors and a lift. Nice pool area. Just acroiss the road from Marina Suites. Upper floors I think all have sea views, but the lower ones might not have a clear sight.
Bars and restaurants are near either over the road, or up the hill on the left as you face the sea. In my opinion here is the better eating area of PR, less pushy PRS etc and great food. Its where the get together is as well. Beach is very near.
You will have a fab time

hi irisheyes
i stayed at the portonovo two years ago. they are absolutely fine, spacious and clean. they are nearer the agua la perra area than the commercial centre - as you leave the apartments, turn left and go under the bridge, then another five minute walk brings you to agua la perra, which has some lovely restaurants and bars. the walk is slightly uphill though. the commercial centre is a 20 minute stroll if you turn right as you leave the apartments, but it is all on the flat.
have a great time, :D

hi irisheyes
sorry for not getting back to you sooner but your question has been answered perfectly by libbyo and cass
I would just like to add that I am sure in the old forum that it was said that kids would be welcome at the get together.
the puerto novo is in a fantastic location
have fun

Thanx Suzi, I'll send a fax from work, though I won't tell you the room number or you might beat me to it.

Stayed here last November, they are basic but clean, Microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster, coffee maker. Cleaners were ok. they were refurbing the wardrobes when we were there. ideal cheap base for everything, breakfast downstairs, restaurants downstairs, across road and round the corner. pool didnt really have a shallow part, not a problem if you haven't got kids. some rate the indian on complex, myself thought it was rubbish, each to their own thou. the shop is well stocked out for anything you need and cheaper than the spar across the road by the beach. one only down side we found was that the hot water only lasted about 3 - 4 mins for a shower, you had to be quick! boat to mogan across the road. reception staff quite polite and spoke broken english. I would go back there but staying top of the hill this time.

Most of the apartements are privately owned so facilities may differ from one to another.
A couple of bars under the apartments - wig wam - nice bar - check out the loos
Yogi and benny's - english brekkie place - nice place
Maria Salinetas - nothing special
Don Quixote - very good menu and you have to reserve a table - never eaten there but looks nice
Smallish supermarket
Taj Palace - I prefer this Indian to happy Valley and Natraj but service is very slow - they do takeaways too

I love Portnovo but the ground floor apartments are accessed from the back of the complex and I wasn't fussed on that, as well lit as it is.
Be careful with the patio doors, once closed from the outside, there's no getting back in. One year we were on the second floor and the elderly couple next door did that. The lock had to be cut out of the front door because they'd left the key in it
Maria Salinas is dreadful and expensive too.

i stayed in these a couple of years ago, basic accomodation, but great location! youv got great views of the harbour! apparently the road on the top can be quite loud (according to other reviews) but it never bothered us! iv stayed here 3 times within the last 6 years, id have no problem going back to them! the pools great, nos hallow end though so be careful with kids! theres a nice little ledge so u can just sit n dangle your legs in...lush! uv got restaurants below, across the road (red rose, lush 4 ur brekkies!) used to have a great kareoke bar above (the tabogan), but its been taken over, i think its swedish owners now :S! 3 Euro for 2 pints now!! really good! i came back about 3 weeks ago after staying in the Omar, but i always go up there! lol!
like i say, the apartments are pretty basic looking, but you have great kitchen facilities! even a microwave! always handy!
id definatly recommend these!!
hope you have a lovely time!! xxx
