Always a difficult question especially asked about your home town. After all who knows about hotels in you're own area ?????
No doubt someone will know, I've struggled for over 30 years on the same topic, what goes on tour stays on tour l.o.l. !!!

there are two premier inn hotels by the trafford centre shopping mall and only 4-5 miles from old trafford we were there a few years back and it was ok. but there are loads of hotels nearer old trafford and the centre but best to select the area you want to stay then google for your hotel.lots of premier inn hotels all around manchester

We stayed in the palace hotel, right opposite MCR oxford rd station when we went to watch the Ricky Hatton fight it was a lovely hotel, walking distance to centre and the brekkie was spot on!
Its expensive booked direct but we used lastminute and it was cheaper with brekkie incl and a free bottle of wine!
My mam also stayed there a few weeks back ans booked through a different hotel booking site but i cant remember which and got a good deal.

stu 1 is your man for the chinatown area papaclio I remember him speaking about the chinatown area and i think he he also worked there shopfitting or something at one stage, bluemoonsteve also knows a fair bit as a local........ I got advice but ended up in the trafford centre area and a 10 minute trip in depending on conditions. pm them both and if your still not sure then stay outskirts and taxi or bus in.
