We have at long last managed to book some self catering accomodation at the Green Golf Bungalows in Maspalomas. We have never been self catering before so we hope we enjoy it.
We will be going for Christmas and New Year and would like some recomendations for places to eat - we are quite fussy!

Last Christmas we stayed in Tenerife and managed to find fantastic places to eat (even though we were in a hotel, and had paid half-board, our reason for wanting to try S.C)

We would love to be able to find a carvery which doing a cracking roast beef! Maybe somewhere for a good steak, some English 'pub type' food, maybe Italian/pizza place - we don't like Indian, Chinese or fish. AND OH OF COURSE! - an all day English breakfast with back bacon and not that yucky streaky stuff! (Just for hubby!)

We obviously would like to hear about places in Maspalomas, but would also like info on anywhere in PDI, we are slightly familiar with the PDI area as we stayed a few Christmases ago in th Gran Canaria Princess, but it was a few years ago!

Thanks in advance, I'll be writing this all down so if you could tell me where abouts these places are!

Hiya, i have never stayed in maspalomas so i really dont know what its like for restaurants but if you like english food then try big bens, it is in the jardin del sol opposite the santa fe bungalows in pdi. They do proper english breakfasts and a variety of different food. They also show the soaps, football and have happy hour, so its hom away from home really!!! El gaucho is a really good steak house, which is located just outside the kasbah, its diagonal from the irish pub near chinawhites or you could say its set pretty much behind the church. They do amazing steaks but can highly recommend the chicken kebabs, canarian potatoes and the chicken enchiladas!!! really good value and a nice setting too, sometimes live music as well. For italian food we go to a resturant that is near the yumbo centre, if you get a taxi there and ask for the iguazu appartments it is directly underneath. They have an extensive menu and the service is excellent. The panzerroti, garlic bread, king prawns and mussels are to die for!! There are also plenty of english style places dotted about too. Try down near the beach in pdi, there is the romano italian restaurant as well as loads of little cafes and also the sahara beach bar which even does chicken nugget and chips, not really my scene as im not fussed for english food when im away but my friend likes it and we have to cater for everyone!

Thanks for both of your replies:grin:

I will write down the places which you both have recommended. I'm pretty sure my hubby will want to try the breakfast place Big Bens!
We won't be trying the chicken nuggets though (yuk)! We like meat to look like meat! So the steak places whic both of you recommend will be getting a sampling.

Thanks again

Only one place to go for a proper English breakfast with British products in that area, that's the Brittania bar located in the Gran Chaperral centre. If anyone comes across a better quality "brekkie" than this place I'm all ears!!

If you like Italian food, the Italian Restaurant in Faro2 is the place for you.

You recognize the place, because most other restaurants there have a waiter outside hassling you to get seated, but the Italian place won't need one.
