Hi all, just joined!

We're off to Gran Canaria for the second time (first time being almost 7 years ago when we were kids!) on the 18th of march, staying in Playa del Cura and would like some info on eating out, bars etc.

If anyone has anything positive or otherwise it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Playa del Cura is on the south west coast of Gran Canaria and is a 60 minutes drive from the Airport at Las Palmas. A peaceful holiday resort with a black volcanic sand beach with sunbeds. The resort is built into the cliffs lining the coast and there are a few shops and good restaurants. This is a quiet family resort so the nightlife is low-key with just a few local bars.
A relaxed family resort for a nice peaceful holiday. Not ideal for those with difficulties in walking as the cliffs around this area are steep. Those looking for a hectic night life will want to look elsewhere
The Europa Centre contains a great variety of restaurants for a nice meal out. The resort is convenient for days out to Puerto Rico, Puerto de Mogán and Ocean Park water theme park.:boozy:

You are only about 3 euros from Puerto Rico in a taxi, so not a issue for getting to the night life.

Playa del Cura is an ideal place to stay, just a stones throw away from P. Rico. It is very quiet both day and night, but has everything you need for a great holiday. Commercial centre has a small array of bars and restaurants as well as a very well stocked Spar with instore bakery. As previously stated a short inexpensive taxi ride gets you into P. Rico for all your nightlife. The small beaches of Cura and Tauro are just in front and the wonderful Amadores can be reached on foot in about 30 mins. As P. D. Cura lies on the main coastal bus route travelling both up and down the coast is very cheap and easy. Some popular bars include "Pio Pio" right on Tauro beach where, on Sunday afternoons a popular open house jam session takes place well into the evening. Back on the upper level of the commercial centre an Irish bar called the "OLD BROUGE" can be found, opposite this is a Welsh bar called the "Fleur de Lys" where Ben and Kerry will give you a warm welcome in the evenings! When I stayed here during Jan this year I was pleasantly suprised, I should also mention a walk back up the valley away from the sea is very pleasant experience also !!!!
P.S. The very popular and much mentioned "GUANTANAMO" Canarian restaurant is right here as well.

Hi, stayed there a couple of years ago. I agree it's a good quiet escape and so near to PR and amadores that it is no issue.

Too late 'cos you're on hoiday now but others might like to try Bistro 22 in the CC Playa del Cura for a meal.

Hey Jim, we ate twice in bistro 22 during the week, the first was on our first night, the food was divine! Had to go back again after that!

I had the lasagna, garlic bread & canarian potatoes, yum yum! & Gar had the steak, said it was the best he's had, and believe me he's a picky fecker so it must have been good!!!

Would recommend Bistro 22 to everyone!

And to those taking a trip to amadorres beach.... try Monet for brekkie or lunch, well nice!

I'll give Monet a try. If you're in Bistro 22 and only want a snack try the chef's own pizza.

Jim, if your heading to amadores beach worth a try is Cafe Del Mar, next door to Sunset Diving, the food there was lovely too, it was always packed at lunch time, a good sign!

Cheers for that, I've never eaten there but had a beer whilst using the internet, the only one I could find on Amadores now Casanova's is closed.:thumb:
