I know we're only just getting started with celebrating Christmas then it's New Year but there's not much of a rest afterwards and carnival season starts here.
First is the second largest (most attended carnival period) in the world up in Las Palmas for three weeks and that's followed straight away by another week of carnival down in Maspalomas / Playa del Ingles.
Carnival 2006 dates - Las Palmas
10th February to 4th March, 2006.
2006 - Interesting carnival days in the city include
17th FEB - Carnival Queen competition
24th FEB - Drag Queen competition
25th FEB - Big Parade
4th MAR - Carnival "funeral" and burial procession
