Does anyone have a clue whats going on with the mail? I know its never been very good, but over the last 6-8 weeks its been totally non existent.
We live in Arguineguin and up until a couple of months ago the mail was sorted here at the local office but this has now moved over to PR. Been down to the office to complain but they just shrug their shoulders and pass the buck.
We used to get regular deliveries to our home address but now nada. We have even rented an apartado de correos (PO box) in the hope that something gets through.
Very, very frustrating when you are waiting for important stuff.
Anyone else having similar problems?

PR post office is terrible at the mo'. The onlt time you can complain is between 8.30 and 10am when the manager is there. basically they have been told not to deliver anything that isnt correctly addressed and as we all have had new road names and/or house number in the last couple of years, if you arent addressed in the whole new address then you wont get it. They send it back to sender the same day. We havent had any post since January. We get the occasional bit that has the proper address but nothing else.
People havent been getting bills etc for months but luckily havent been cut off.
I've changed all mine to internet access - so I get all my bills online and bank statements etc. Anything else doesnt happen.

The English side of the Correos website has an online complaints form.
www.correos.es/ENG/08-AtencionCliente/0801_b-quejas.asp (http://www.canaryforum.com/forums/www.correos.es/ENG/08-AtencionCliente/0801_b-quejas.asp)
I have duly filled one out and sent it with the following complaint. Whether it makes a difference or not who knows, but if they receive enough then hopefully someone in charge will sit up and take note.

"I have not recieved any mail at all for more than 3 months. The local sorting office was moved from Arguineguin to Puerto Rico at start of year and since then I am not receiving any mail. There was no problem before this change. I am not the only one, it is happening to many people. The staff at the Puerto Rico office say that if the receiving address is not absolutely correct then the mail is returned to sender the same day. This is totally unacceptable especially when I am waiting for important correspondence.
I know that the local authority has changed many road names and house numbering during the last couple of years but this should not prevent the correos staff from working out where the mail should go. I do hope that you are able to take action on this matter. Regards"

well i'll send one too but wonder if they'll read it in english - i'll try and send in spanish too. Maybe La fiesta or another very good spanish speaker (Owen?) could write out a blanket paragraph that we can cut and paste onto the spanish form

I sent two letters to Gran Canaria, both were returned.
The first was sent to my bank CajaCanarias in Arguineguin at on the 28th December. It was correctly addressed as per bank statement address and the address on their website. I received it back last week.
The second was sent to my accountant in Puerto Rico about mid February. It was sent by registered post to the correct address as per his business card and his website address. It too arrived back about 6 weeks later.
The reason stated for the non-delivery was "incomplete address" Both of the above deliveries were to prominent businesses, particularly the Bank
As I see it, the postal system no longer works in the Puerto Rico/Arguineguin area and cannot be relied upon.
Yes I will petition them also. I also intend to pay them a visit to convey my dissatisfaction with their service.

Unfortunately if the bank and the accountant havent updated their websites or made new business cards, then the address wont be right. I have about 2,000 business cards with an incomplete address on them. Dont want to get new ones in case I have to change phone number as well(my other moan)
Its just plain stupid. And the other day I had a letter delivered. Full address for my house but it was put in the box for the clinic - completely different address but obvious who its for. There is only one Dr P. Beresford-Jones in Puerto Rico (and Gran Canaria) Someone used their brain. Wish it happened more often in the post office
