I have just booked 7 days in the Marina Suites for Sept 2006, I just hope that they all they are cracked up to be. Most reviews are top notch.Stopped at Riosol last year, but those steps nearly killed us.

Hi there
We are booked to go to Marina Suites in September as well. We've heard loads of good reports and had a look of them ourselves last year and they looked fantastic.
I'm really looking forward to living in luxury for a week. We normally stay at Puerto Feliz which are really nice but was VERY impressed with the Marina Suites
I hope they don't frown upon 8 girls out to have some fun

The Marina Suites is the nicest place I have ever stayed bar none! It is absolutely gorgeous. We went in Oct 04 not long after it had opened and felt like royalty when we stepped off the coach at the entrance! You could see everyone else on the coach seething!!! I'm very v jealous that you're all off there on your hols. I've got to make do with Mexico next february......

Hi Paulywally, what dates are you going to Marina Suites?. We are going on Sept 18.flying from Newcastle.
As long as you are not rolling drunk and swearing, why should they frown at 8 girls enjoying themselves.
Looking forward to it. Have fun!!!!!!!!!!:p

Hi there
We are arriving at Marina Suites on 11th September. We are flying from Glasgow.
We certainly like to have a good time but we aren't THAT lairy.
We will be out partying and returning home in the wee hours but definitely not troublesome (we'll be on our best behaviour since we are staying somewhere so swish!)
Hope you have a great time and might even see you there

A tip for the Marina, book a high floor apartment overlooking the marina,
there are 9 floors, I rec. floor 6+ for best view, and apartment 612/712/812/912, are right next to the 3 speedy lifts. Hope you are on S.C. because the restaurant is not a patch on thr Rio. And girls the clip-clop of your heels on the tiled floors can blow the mind of others who maybe trying to rest in the apartment below.

this has been brought up before yflood and having been to the suites 4 times now and back in may i have never heard of or seen them and have also made enquiries regards this to the reception who say they do not exist. what they have is premier room deals which is just a normal room but for a little extra you get a dvd player bathrobes and slippers but to book this package you have to arrive on a saturday and this can be booked with any company including owen.this is probably what the company is advertising
if not put the online company advertising them on this thread someone will check it out for you that is going soon or i can check it out with the company as back up when i go in may and put it to the management then

thanks for replying rab. the company is called broadwaytravel.com. they have apartments, suites and penthouses available for the marina suites in december.they definetly have it stated as a penthouse, although its the first travel company i have seen that has them.if reception staff say they dont have them, it must be the premier rooms they have..

The Premier suites are the 8&9's, 108/9 etc. The rooms are much larger than the standard rooms with the same facilities. They are on the south-west corner, 8 facing the Pool & boatyard, and 9 facing the Marina which in their opinion are the premier positions.

the south west corner may have larger rooms as top cat says but my pics show that all the rooms have balconies facing the boatyard but a side marina view still a great position. but the rooms that we have stayed in also were a lot larger than the ground floor ones and any bigger and we would have got lost in them but i will check out the south west corner in may and take pics of the room as for premier rooms here are the extras that come with them from first choice and no mention of larger rooms.

there is one on poolside along with boxed games take your pick, there is a gazebo that eddie the entertainer uses for his base library books there add your own when finished and return borrowed ones after use and there was a good selection starting to gather last may and by aug it was like a local library happy reading also at the side of reception uk newspapers for guests perusal

Anyone know what tour operators you can book the marina suites through? Or do most of you book directly & get flights seperatly?
We've booked the Nevada Apartments for october but thinking of changing them??

Alan if you are going HB, then without question the Gloria is far superior, in every way.
While the Marina is in a perfect position down by the harbour, where their pool is adjacent to the sea, where you can listen to the waves crashing against the rocks which is just bliss.

Apartments with Marina View:
-10 to -20. That is: 110-120 for the ground floor.
910-920 for the ninth floor.
Note that the higher you are the better the view.
Also note that the three speedy lifts are next to apartments -11.

hi yflood
best way to explain the two bedroom is to describe how they sit and add a few pics below.
rooms are 124-924 morasol end of building as you enter the room directly to the right is the first bedroom a little smaller than the standard room bedroom but with a window facing the cliff second bedroom is straight ahead as you enter and has a small en-suite which sits back to back with the main bathroom.
as you turn left you have a long hallway like the standard rooms with the bathroom then the lounge which is more or less same as standard room with kitchen facilities and a balcony.

http://rab.c.fotopic.net/p29581225.html rear bedroom of two

Hi
As all the rest of your replies, you will love the Marina Suites! We came back last night after a week there (we also went last year). I cannot fault the location, hotel & room standard, the excellent pool and views. I have to say, however, that both last & this year we have found the staff at the Marina to be less than friendly! I know this is a special hotel and standards are high, which we adhered to at all times, yet no matter how much you smile, the staff just seemed very standoffish! It did not upset us, but they could try and be a little friendlier in mine, and my husbands' opinion! See what you think, I would be interested to know.
Hope you have a great time - hope my comments have not put you off!!

you have picked the best area for pram pushing in pr. as near to flat as you will find only hard push is up to the agua la perra centre. walks to the beach and commercial centre is flat pool is generally heated when required but to be honest I have never found it to be cold at any time.

We got back last week after spending only a week there.
Hush your mouth Marcus! "Harbour view"? We had a "Marina view"! Chase me lol
For your viewers information Marcus....
We were in room 622. Wish we were in room 621!
Why? you might ask.
Imagine the front of the hotel.... then have a look and see that after the majority of the balconies there is a slight 'step' back (there are a couple, actually).
We were in the first 'step back' room.
Fantastic views over the Marina and PR, but the only minor problem was that although the sun was on the majority of the balconies for most of the day, it shined on us from around 6:30 pm for about half an hour, with room for one chair to sit in the sunshine.
This wasn't a problem for Dianne ( my other half ) (we were on our honeymoon ) as she isn't really a sun-worshipper.
It was only a mini-problem for me, although I didn't know it at the time. The sun only shone on my right leg, which is wooden, and dried it out. I spent most of my holiday falling over.(only kidding, Marcus's viewers! It was the alcohol provided by Carla at Pickwicks really).
Joking apart, although we didn't use the majority of the facilities available, we both found the Marina Suites to be the best accomodation that we had stayed in abroad. Bar none. That includes business trips etc.
Even Dianne, who is normally very critical, was over the moon with the Marina Suites.
We would have no hesitation in going back there. In fact, we are looking forward to it.

As i parked my car outside the complex(with the roof down) ¨ BRITISH RIF RAF ¨ staying on the top floor (men in there 40´s wearing ¨football tops¨ and sporting ¨Stu Francis¨(crackerjack) hairdos were ¨hurling¨ the remains of there bacon sandwiches down below(using the inside of my car as there target) It´s times like this i feel embarassed to be British!
With respect to our ¨football lovers¨ and ¨Crackerjack¨fans but the morale to the story is viewers.....
If you would like to throw food into my car, please throw an ¨unopened¨ box of Mr kipplings Cherry Bakewells¨ i love them!

Marcus on your next visit to the suites can you check out with my beautiful friend on reception(you know the one;) ) if the cliff face repairs are going ahead in 2007. if they do then it will rather difficult to find a sun lounger as they will be closing the pool bar area off this is the work that was cancelled earlier this year. on recollection a lot of rather large boulders were falling down and crashing of the walkway safety guards overhead and the pool bar ,restaraunt area was being hit also. a box of bakewell tarts may then find their way to your lovely convertable

Marcus, the fact that they can hit the interior of a car from about 150ft with a sandwich crust, makes me proud to be British, what a shot. Sorry it was your motor though.

On the verge of booking Marina Suites for our wedding anniversary in January and I don't have any doubts that they are the best accommodation in PR as I've looked at every thread/comment on here relating to them. I've also looked at a couple of 'travel guide' and 'review websites' on Marina Suites, one question at the back of my mind and which seems to crop up on these reviews as comments is that people have trouble finding sun loungers round the pool unless they're up at the crack of dawn and running down to 'save' them. (sad individuals!) Can anyone tell me, will we have this problem in January or is it just very busy like this during school holidays when there are lots of families with children? I'd be greatful for any comments from anyone who's experienced a week here at the end of January and the 'sun lounger' situation.
Cheers

Hi been there in March and not had any issues - if you literally want to be at the edge of the pool or the few that are located facing out towards the sea you might want to be up at dawn but otherwise we have had no issues including bagging the ones that have the curtains around them on the raised area.
To be honest we preferred the loungers down by the jacuzzis as there were not as many kids in that area.
I could see in the height of summer (and probably when we are there at Xmas) it might be an issue but in January I cannot see it being a problem.

chorlton is correct in all she says but even in the height of summer there is no problem unless you want the ones round the edge of the pool or baby pool other than that plenty of loungers.

Thanks Chorlton, I didn't think it would be too much of a problem as it wasn't school holiday time but I just wanted to check. Those ones you're talking about round the jacuzzi and under the canopies look absolutely ideal for us, I can just imagine lying there and chilling out with a good book, and as there's only the 2 of us I don't think we'll have any problems finding just 2 together, in fact probably got more choice of 2 together than if there were more than 2 of us if you see what I mean. Going to book it tonight!

Thanks to Chorlton/Roxy for the info, but especially Rab.c as I've looked at every bit of info & photo you've ever put on here for Marina Suites! We've been to PR many times but always stayed in a privately owned apartment which we rent from a friend of ours. We just fancied somewhere a little bit special for our 5th anniversary as our first visit to PR was our honeymoon. So the old man's splashing out (but he doesn't know it yet!!) lol

I don't think you will be disappointed and you are correct Rab has some fab pics on there.
One thing to note is that due to the sun setting earlier in winter I think (and someone please correct me if I am wrong) that the balconies facing the pool will get more sun than the ones facing the Marina. Even in summer we thought the ones facing the marina (although the view was fab and we loved watching the boats go by) seem to get less sun. So might be worth requesting a pool view.
If you haven't already lined up a tour operator you can book them via the forum at www.islascanariastours.com.

I was going to book it on-line as a package through First Choice as this appears to be a really good price and cheaper than booking flights/accommodation separately, but there's nowhere during the booking process to enter any special requests as such (I don't think so anyway). Maybe I could book it and then contact the hotel directly by email to request this to be noted on my booking? I don't know, do you know if it's possible??

If the hotel could accomodate your requests they will. I have been emailing them constantly asking every question under the sun and they have been really good and got back to me instantly with answers. So I am sure if you ask they might try and sort you out with something. I am arriving there on Saturday, cant wait, was going to request a certain type of room, but I think I will just get stuck with what I am given, because if it is too nice I wont want to leave the room..... and I really must get out and about and see the sights, havent been in gran canaria in a good few years.

there are no steps to the sea there is a gate at the side of the bar between the bar and pool but on the other side it is massive boulders and a few seats but yes you have direct access to the sea if you balance your way over them.
beach is only a few hundred metres away from hotel and no steps just a level walk.

Marina Suites were absolutely fab! The apartments were massive, the hotel staff were great and the cleaning staff..... well they were just wee diamonds. Came in everyday, cleaned the room to a top standard, washed all our dishes, cleaned out the baby bottles... Plus if they were coming in too early for you, they would just come back later in the day that was suitable for us... most other hotels would just say you missed your turned. Plenty of clean towels provided in both the room and down by the pool. The bar staff were very friendly and very good with the baby. What else can I say.... but they were excellent!!!! Only fault is the three lifts were tiny, so if you were waiting to go down with a pram you had to wait till an empty lift arrived and with 8 floors, a lot of people used the lift. But that was really a minor fault, that couldnt really even be classed as a fault! Excellent hotel.... fab fab fab. Hope to go back again!

You will get the sun from the time it comes over the top (April I'de guess about 10-11 a.m.) until it sets in the evening, so right through the hot part of the day. To put your mind at rest look at the photos on Rabc's web-site!!

we found that some of the apartments got the sun later in the day - especially those along the front (marina view) so in winter we asked for a pool view as the sun sets lower and seemed to stay on these more all day.

hi.
as chorlton says winter the sun is lower and hits the balconys with a pool view but come may the sun is higher again and just hits the edges of the pool view rooms in the morning
but the marina view rooms then get the full sun from the back of one till suset. lovely for that few drinks on the balcony prior to going out.

Some of the balconies (the ones closest to the corner of the building) have solid balcony walls and are slightly more enclosed - when we stayed in that one we didn't get much sun even in the summer but I can't for the life of me think of the numbering of them - I reckon they are the 09/10 numbered ones perhaps. Its maybe only 8 of them out of the whole block though that are like that.

thats right chorlton the wall goes out about 1 metre and obscures the side view cant remember the numbers but im sure they are next to the premier suites think 09/10 are further along think we were 810 the last time with a great view so could be around the 06 mark think my piccies show the areas up will have to check

We stayed in the Suites last year and our room was at the front overlooking the Marina( One of the best views on Earth!) We had noise from the boat yard , noise from the coaches disgorging the new arrivals, noise from the new arrivals, noise from the staff (and that was just the receptionists -only joking!) While this can occasionally be irritating all you need to do is look out your of window for any such annoyance to fade away.
Can't wait to return!

I have to say I did notice a bit of coach noise in the early hours sometimes from arrivals/departures BUT not enough to spoil my hols and the views more than made up for it. Marina view was fab watching the boats come and go and on a night watching all the apartment blocks start to light up as it got to evening. And pool view for watching the sunset and everything settlle down for the night. As Rab says this is one of the most popular places in PR at the mo and rightly so.

yes chelle it is very confusing however
standard suite............. you have stayed in one
deluxe suite or a suite ................the same but top floor marina view with dvd player, slippers, housecoat and a welcome bottle of house wine.
the vip suites are never really available but they are the ones on the far end beside the boat repair yard. the bathroom has a marina view with large window the lounge has portholes for windows and the bedroom also has a great marina view.
double suites....... they are at the morasol end same as standard but have an extra bedroom with ensuite the bedrooms faces the cliff with a window the lounge has a marina view.
hope this helps chelle

the only difference between all the high floors is the extras you pay for chelle dvd player and you get all your movies at reception free if you have time to watch any, slippers, housecoats and a nice bottle of wine.
rooms are basically all the same except the 9 double suites which other than an extra room and around 8 vip ones at both ends of the building

Should still be open BUT for the sake of a 2 minute walk you can be in a local bar with more sensible prices. Come out of the suites - turn right and head past the Morasol and through the tunnel. Just up on the left you will see the Agua La Pera centre with some bars in there.

yes if you look at the marina suites website then the ones showing as suites vip these are the ones normally allocated to travel republik, alpha rooms etc.
same as a standard room but high floors and dvd etc as stated.
you normally pay a little extra for these rooms around 5euros a day.
the deluxe ones as stated on marina website are very hard to get as there are only about 8 of these deluxe apts and a guaranteed late check out with them and are very expensive to book.
think a lot of the confusion comes because some sites are advertising the vip suites as deluxe suites in otherwards the wrong way round.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there is entertainment at Marina Suites in evening / night and what its like and also is there a kids club??

There is a bar but I don't think there is any entertainment but it is in walking distance of many bars and the commercial centre and not up any hills like most complexes. I don't know about a kids club but don't remember seeing one.

hi alip we stayed at the marina suites before theres no kids club where you leave kids with reps/minders etc but theres a playroom with toys you have to be with the kids when there in it, they have a playground for kids , also dont remember music etc in the bar at night maybe they have some around the pool area i know there is an entertainment programme for the daytime.

We stayed at the Marina Suites in October 04 and I know they have hairdryers in the bathroom but I can't remember if they're any good or not?! If someone could let me know what their opinion of them is I'd be very grateful as it might save me a bit of room in my case that might be better filled with something else!! Thanks

Well it depends how serious you are about hair drying - I know that sounds a bit daft but e.g. I have wavy hair so I like a good salon quality hairdryer with a nozzle and my selection of brushes. The marina ones are ok for drying...but if you've long hair and want to style it - maybe not that good.
rab_c.
18th September 2007, 01:33 PM
the hair driers are of the travel type but are powerful more suitable for the young ones craze at the moment and straightening.
what you have to remember if you are a family then it may be best to take your own as the ones in the suites are attached in the bathroom and the amount of time women take with their hair bathroom is out of bounds to rest of family unless sharing at the same time lol.

Marina Suites is the best hotel i have stayed in Gran Canaria. Pool is fabulous! The rooms are amazing! Plus they have the little extras that other self catering kitchenettes wouldnt have such as a microwave! Which was a godsend for sterlising bottles for my baby who was 12 weeks at the time. Positioning is great, all on the flat, plus its only a two minute walk to the boat if you want to go on a wee trip.

Now the car park near the harbour/marina has an attendant on the barrier, was wondering if you have to pay if staying at the Marina Suites?
We`re thinking of hiring a car for a week, and wondering if theres any dispensation for parking outside the Marina Suites?
rab_c.
27th November 2007, 12:44 PM
I would imagine the suites and morasol will issue passes as they both have their own parking facilities outwith the new parking areas.
when I was with big tony a few times the new attendant and barrier was just up and running and tony used to just drive in and out quoting morasol hotel and no problem.
taxis had a pass or ticket that they handed to attendant on the way out and it was returned to them.

I think when we was there in April we showed him our door card coz it says Marina Suites on it, or one time we paid the man at the barrier and got our money back from Marina Suites at Reception...This was only on a Saturday thou coz of the parking for the beach, Is it every day now then?? They should separate both the car parks then open the barrier next to the Morasol...would make more sense!

that is a very good sugestion michelle and not so hard to set up but the problem is if you open the other barrier then every tom dick and harry would be using it for free parking at the morasol and suites and guests would lose out, and since they closed the barrier at the morasol it has made it more safer for children as boy racers used to speed along that small strip of road to the suites. the way it is now with the barrier at the far end attendant operated and the barrier at the morasol shut to me is the way forward as long as the hotels issue passes to their guests who have cars.

Yeah i didnt think about that. Then they should still make a wall and make you need a hotel pass for the Morasol barrier! Hehe oh well as long as they let us in if we are Marina or Morasol guests! Thanks!

Marian Suites are fantastic! Stayed in lots of places in PR - Omar, Blue Star, Maraciabo, Sol Y paz, Cumana, El Greco, Eden, Rio Sol, Vellamar and the Altamar - ther are probably more just can't remember!
Think it all depends on what your requirements are, when we were just a couple the Marina Suites were just perfect, absolutely top class rooms and just a stroll to the CC - however since we've had the "wee one", she's 3, the Altamar suits our requirements perfectly.
Whatever way you look at it you won't be let down by the Marina Suites, they are fab!

I wouldn't recommend them for families with young children, Jackie.
I stayed there just after they first opened and was struggling for room with 2 teenagers in tow.
The kitchenette area is 'American-style' and not big enough for catering on any scale really.
Views are excellent (I had a pool/ocean view) but I wouldn't go back.

11th January 2008, 03:09 PM
It's not that i wouldn't recommend them for kids at all. When I was there it was 3 years ago there didn't seem to be a lot for the kiddies to do, but like I say that was a while ago, the place was just opened and it's probably totally different now. Anyway because of the time of year you're going I'm sure there will be stacks for the kids laid on. Plus you have the bonus of being on the "flat" if you know what I mean, just a dander to the beach and up to the CC without 6million steps or taxis!! - that in itself is a big plus when you're going away with wee ones.
You will love the Marina Suites.

Theres a kids club now, a kids play area and kiddies pool - not more or less than there is at most other places.
The only thing I don't like about the suites is the sunbathing areas by the main pool you struggle to get a credit card between the loungers, no chance of sunshades as you put one up and it shades about 8 beds around you plus the happy hardcore aerobics at midday did my head in.
I did like the area by the jacuzzis more, but they were meant to be for adults only and you used to get people letting their kids splashing in and out so that became less peaceful.

The kiddies' pool was there when I was. I loved the mid-day aquarobics lmao Didn't do them but the music was ok.
Dreadful struggle with the loungers. I bought 3 lilos and put them on the balcony and spent a lot of time there. Kept me away from screaming kids and stressed out mams and dads too. Not that I don't like kids because I have my own daughter plus her entourage, but she's 20 now.

To get back to the original thread, Marina Suites are great accomodation, don't let anyone put you off. It'll be grand for all of you including the kids, you will all have a blast. I would hate to think that anything I said has made you second quess your choice, I know what that can be like.

That reminds me.... 'Ow do Steve mate. How are you and your good lady Pat keeping? :)
Just to keep on topic, the missus and I love to chill and just sit and people-watch (we're not pervs honest) and it was just brilliant sat on the balcony during the day watching the comings and goings in the marina.
My only real gripe about kids...... I was desperate to get on the internet to check me emails, and these two young 'uns were on the 2 PC's for ages. I went and stood behind them, just as a hint like, that I wanted to get on, and lo and behold, the pair of buggers were talking to each other on messenger. They were sat next to each other!

Jackie, you're paranoid. Nobody on this thread has said they don't like you; they're giving opinions.
I still maintain that Marina Suites were not intended for children and they still aren't, so I'm with Liam and Alan.
I'd be worried about young kids on the balcony too if I had a high floor. They're more bother than a box full of monkeys when they have a mind to it, as you must well know.
Alan, it's the 21st century syndrome - my daughter wants to be on my computer to speak to friends she's just left as soon as she walks in the door! Mind, it keeps her off the phone lol

In all honesty the suites are realistically an adults hotel although they have a kiddies park and small club now they are more or less geared for the hoity toity peeps and I know as we have lived among them for years here.
having just returned from the riu vistamar this is the place to releases your kids and this place knows how to treat large families and once your in everything is FREE all you can eat and drink and its the real drink not cheap local produce full review later when I report on the riu.

that happened around june-sept 2007. and was caused by a computing fault in the marina suites causing double bookings a good few travel companies were caught up in it and most were moved to either the morasol or el greco thats the only time we ever saw it happen and we have been in the suites every year since they opened often twice in the same year. the previous year it was the other way round the el greco were being renovated and many guests were moved to the marina suites that was may-july 2006.
Marina suites website will often show booked at certain times of the year as they only hold a few rooms to themselves the majority go to the travel companies. sept is normally fully booked or at least 99%full.
your family will very happy in the suites and what a fantastic location this is the first year since they opened that we are not yet booked for a visit to them but hey!!! its early days yet.

60 eoros + 10euros deposit is what you paid over the 2 weeks when we were there, bloody ridicioulous charge for a peace of mind I may say.:veryangry:I do not know where these prices come from, the thing is the over the top price you now pay for your stay in the marina suites the safety deposit box should be free one of the many things that are starting to haunt this complex, another is the mad cattle rush every morning to get a decent sun lounger. or forgetting to put your tshirt back on coming through past the reception area and being scolded in front of other guests, sometimes people do forget these rules. to be honest the suites need to take a lesson from the riu vistamar.

I agree that the Marina Suites has its share of downsides but I think the positives outweigh them. A solution to the pool problem may simply be to make an attempt to enforce the rule which they display in the pool area regarding not reserving sun beds. I've stayed at the hotel twice and it was often the case that the pool area wasn't actually that busy it was just that all the loungers were taken up by Mr & Mrs Self-Centered and their friends the Inconsiderates who would lay out the towels (& token book & flip flops to make it seem as if they'd just popped to the toilet), go out for the day and then come for a quick dip at 4pm (or worse, turn up at 5 to collect their things and leave!). Oh the temptation to just lie on their towels and plead ignorance should they turn up, after all the towels are all the same...

I think it was room 704...gr8 views over the marina......
on arrival you receive a towel card and every morning they give you two towels and your card back in the evening.......
its an altogether great palce and we thoroughly enjoyed it.......

yes there is a hairdryer in the bathroom, to single beds a double wardrobe and a writing desk in the bedroom and a 'fireside' chair, a couch, tv and lamp in the main lounge with a dining table and four chairs....theyres also a table and two chairs on the balcony....the kitchen area has a fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle and 2 ring hob...........our room was on the 7th floor (rabs idea - great!) I think it was room 704...gr8 views over the marina......
on arrival you receive a towel card and every morning they give you two towels and your card back in the evening.......
its an altogether great palce and we thoroughly enjoyed it.......
dont froget...Ma BAkers...Passarella cc for your lunch and STEVIE YORKES HARP BAR...maincc....for a great night!....enjoy...
Thanks alot for the valuable info Liam, its much appreciated. I will pop into Ma Bakers and the Harp Bar and say that you sent me. Fingers crossed they wont attack me HA HA. Cheers mate.

Thanks to reading the good reviews members have posted, we've booked friends of my partner George's here, in September.
Sounds ideal, especially for those who prefer not to climb...or queue for cabs.

Got to agree the Marina Suites are really lovely, the only downside to them is trying to obtain a sunbed, nigh near impossible unless you queue up at 7:30 each morning. Also there is hardly any space between the beds. I,ve stayed in both the suites & the morasol next door & even though the Marina Suites rooms are far more stylish I'd plump for the Morasol anytime.

I'd like to know this also.. I've stayed in PR a couple of times now and i know it isn't reknowned for its entertainment in hotels so i'm not getting my hopes up but it would be nice if the Marina Suites did offer something like that..

Cheers.Hi, arrived back from marina suites on sunday morning. There was entertainment on alternate evenings during our stay with themed dinners on most evenings. Unfortunately there didnt seem to be many people attending these occaisions. The units are still empty (good place for a minimart) and its still damn near impossible to get a sunbed by the pool unless you are an early riser. Hope this helps

is the entertainment still being held at the poolside bar or indoors now.....the problem with the units is they are still owned by the company that built the suites therefore nothing the suites can do about any of it.

we stayed in room 714....fab views of the setting sun. The room consisted of a double bedroom with side lockers, wardrobes and a writing desk. Then we had a marble tiled bathroom and then the main room with a fridge, cooker and microwave in a tidy cupboard which could be closed. A double couch, side armchair, lamp and satellite tv. Then a balcony with fab views, fitted with a table and two chairs. Allround a great place to stay, the rooms are huge and very adequate for a restful holiday. The suites are allround great, except for the lack of outdoor space in relation to the number of rooms..........thats why we chose the Morasol next door.....

have to say thats why we ended up using the morasol next door.
but in saying that we were never in the charge for beds we dandered out every morning after brekkie and always got one its the ones up the baby pool end the scrum is for but at the moment what I am looking at is the morasol is costing around the same as what full board is in the suites and that is a great moneysaver. and you can always use the morasol facilities but dont tell liam lol.

in fairness rab, martin in the morasol is very accomodating.....when we stayed in the marina suites he gave us towels to use the morasol pool.....also the new restaurant operator, Marco does food, drink and cocktails by the pool and a really good paella special on sunday for lunch...I rekon theyll be glad of the business..............

Hi Guys,
I'm going to the Marina on Wednesday and was wondering if I should bother bringing any towels ? Are they already provided or should I bring some from home. I know they give some for the pool but are there some already in the room ? It's just I don't want to over pack !
Thanks in advance,
Siobhan :)

just had a look at a holiday company from bristol on the 19th sept sunsand......... marina suites in sept for 2 weeks at 773 pound full board, then you have the revoli 632 pound per person for the same 2 weeks but s/c, also showing is the eden apts 650 pounds per person again s/c.
breaking it down to a daily figure you are on average paying less than 10pound per day more for your brekkie, lunch, dinner and luxury in the marina suites try eating out for the same amount impossible.
the only problem I have with the suites is the closeness of the loungers and the extortionate safety box charges but for less than 70 pound a week difference the luxury itself is worth the extra. oh and they charge a deposit for your pool towels now
ps..... I knocked the flight meal charges off and the 2 pound wildlife care.
great if ou can go when the deals are on

Got back from the Marina suites yesterday and it was lovely.
Our suite was fab, the pool was amazing and the hotel was just so clean and in a perfect area.
I thought the food was okay, one day I had a paella an it was great but the rest was average. The lifts annoyed me as they took ages to come and were tiny. I also hated the people trying to get you to the new beach, they were very aggressive.
I've just realised I left my daughter's jacket in the room and so the Marina said they'll send it over :)
Overall, fab hotel and I'd defo go back.

Although it's been said before, just to clarify things about "ANFI BEACH" it is'nt private (many are douped into believing it is). In fact there are no private beaches in Spain. It's very easy to reach from P. Rico just 4 euros in a cab or less than 1 euro bus fare, well worth a visit as the beach is lovely !!!

When you click on the marina suites website now it looks the same but yes you are correct it is now putting you to active hotels who do a lot of bookings now in the puerto rico area.
if you are after a 2 bedroom best bet is to book through this link http://www.alpharooms.com/WebPages/Search/SearchResults.aspx?SearchID=aaa1cd96-d612-478e-b3d4-b9975afe0a3d&proxyredirect=true

Hi everyone. I am booked to stay at the Marina Suites in June - can't wait. Haven't be to PR for 4 years and used to stay at the Riosol. Thought we'd try something new though.
Just wondering if anyone has stayed there recently and knows whether the sunbed situation has improved! It's the only negative thing I seem to read about this place.
Also is it within walking distance to the Commercial Centre?

afraid the sunlounger situation is still the same after visiting last jan for a browse around
think the only way out of the situation is to supply double tier loungers lol.
as for your walk to the commercial centre its an easy 20/30minute stroll all on the flat.
all your best bars and eateries are in this area so you are really spoilt for choice.
