Would it be worth my trouble driving my car to GC when I move over?
Can anybody recommend a good site to visit with regards to finding rented accommodation. Is it 4 months rent in advance and are the rental properties furnished?

Most rentals are furnished depends which area you are looking though - in the south more furnished than non.
Cardenas is a company that rent out quite a bit - google it and it should come up
You can bring your car but if its UK plates, it gives the police a reason to stop you. We have road side checks all the time here. Also its right hand drive which can be a pain. In the short term its ok but you'll never sell it and it costs quite a bit to change the plates to spanish ones

My friend brought his car over. Going to cost him €3000 to get it re-registered over here. (If anyone here knows a cheaper way of doing this please let me know)

As far as I know the rent situation is:

1 Month bond
1 Month in advance
1 Month for the agents finding fee.

Most place are furnished over here and from what I've experienced, even when you buy a house the furniture seems to be included... very strange IMO

Hope that helps, although I think there will be more experienced ones here that can help you more.

So iit would make sense to buy a car there? Are they reasonably priced. I have read that the houses over there are quite small. Is it 4 months in advance rent wise?

friends of ours brought a discovery over from england they are changing it to spanish plates which up to now has cost 2,000E. before it can have spanish plates it has to be inspected by a inspector then have a itv(spanish mot) the plates can take 3 month to come through then it has to have another itv before they can go on which again has to be paid for. they were hoping to sell it once it had spanish plates but this is difficult as everyone drives left handed cars as right handed can prove difficult as you dont have the vision as in a left. my friend said if he knew the expence and problems he would have left it in england. there is also tax to pay on the car the amount depends on the age. most propertys take one month rent and a deposit and charge a finders fee. hope all this helps

Cars are really expensive here and even older cars hold their price. The size of the house will depend where it is and how much you want to spend really.

Hello!
I would describe anybody that brings a car over here from the uk as
" Bloody Stupid " A far more " intelligent" idea would be to buy a car over here.New prices are excellent value and cheaper than the uk.The second hand market is quite expensive here in Spain.I bought a nice little Fiat Punto convertible (ideal for those " sunny days" with the roof down and listening to some " cool tunes"...... ) from a rent a car dealer in Telde.

" Happy Cruising viewers! "

But not so good on the days when the rain catches you unawares and turns it into a swimming pool, hey Marcus

Thanks everyone! It seems like good advice from all, although Marcus are you for real?? You seem to be having such a wonderful time, how do you cope with it all???

So what suburbs should I be looking in with regards to renting. I want something thats of a reasonable price and thats not cramped for space, preferably in the south that is not a rough area. Please advise me what areas to avoid.
