Thought i may as well ask this one, Im doing the last few things now for my July wedding, but I cant decide what to give as wedding favours. Im really not a fan of sugared almonds so i would rather come up with something else, id like to do something a bit different so does anyone have any ideas??

Someone did mention giving a lucky dip lottery ticket, if any one on here gave something unusual or has an idea please post!!! im running out of time lol

....but could you live with yourself if one of your guests won the jackpot ! I'd always be thinking "if only I'd kept that one for myself!"

We had sugared almonds but then that was 18 years ago and so it was quite new then.
My cousins didnt do things for the ladies but did packages for the children. They were well thought out and individual for the children - little ones had colouring books, older ones had a small toy etc. It was great for the parents and the kids weren't expecting it. It doesnt have to be expensive but the money you would spend on 'favours' for the ladies could be spent this way instead

at my sisters wedding , they did a a variation on the tealights but it was just one tealight but in a small holder , she got the holders from Ikea so tahts close to you we used these and they looked very good http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15573&catalogId=10103&storeId=7&productId=13122&langId=-20&parentCats=15573*15699*15701 , for the bridemaids she actually got a small vase again from ikea http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15573&catalogId=10103&storeId=7&productId=32360&langId=-20&parentCats=15573*15694*15697 that they could but there bouquets in during the meal and let them keep them and on each of the tables there was a main floral display , which they gave to variuos members of family and friends like my garn , aunt , long term friend http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=15573&catalogId=10103&storeId=7&productId=62227&langId=-20&parentCats=15573*15694*15697 think thats it too pissed to rememebr

the price for the lot was so cheap it was unbelivably cheap obviously as 1/2 the guests were swedes the ikea bit was done due to them , but have a look if you fancy , i will see if i can find the name of the things for you if you want :have-fun: :have-fun:

We're going to a wedding in August and they're called Mark and Mandy and they're having bags of M and M's! My son had Thornton's chocs, 4 in a box with their names and date on, they were in the wedding theme colour, gold and cream and cost around two pounds each. I personally still like the sugar almonds and you can make them up yourself as you can get all the gear on line or from cake decorating shops. What you want is something that looks decorative on the plate as the guest walk in. Have a lovely day and post some pictures.

As I have been looking myself for my wedding I have seen many wedding favours.

It seems to be personal choice really.

There are some nices one like chocolates in themed packaging (i.e. wedding cakes, grooms hat, groom and bride etc.), eating paper as invitation and menus. Heavier writing paper designed as a scroll with invo/menu writing in chocolate. Invos with seeds so you can plant it and flowers will grow, bottle stoppers & keyrings, the list is endless.

As I said I could go on and on.

We are leaning towards the chocolates in the themed packaging.

This is a real racket isnt it - I just bought some Tulle (net) and some ribbon in the colour of the bridesmaids dresses, some silvered almonds and sat for hours making them myself.
People must spend a fortune on these little touches.

One thing i had that I have kept was the menu card which everyone on the top table signed for me

At my friends wedding reception they had a picture put in a plain white mount (in their case it was New York as that was where they had got married - but it could just be an image that you both like) and it was put on a side table with a black pen and everyone was asked to write a message to the bride and groom on the white mount around it.

WE recently had our daughters wedding... we had the lucky dip lottery tickets... instead of the old fashioned telegram the best man read a selection of gift cards, each couple were asked to buy a £1 lucky dip they were then given a gift card, the lucky dip was put inside nice way to say .... Good Luck. Ironically not one ticket won anything...ooops. But it is fun.

Also you get the small lookalike champagne bottles that have bubble solution in, quite funny watching the older ones taking them off the kids to play with....

As they say " Growing old is compulsory .... Growing up is optional"

GOOD LUCK .... and many years of happiness:thumb:
