Must be your pc lisa or disappeared earlier. Its 11.11am just now and it is there.

not your pc angel it must have been you. if you look to the right of shoutbox there are 2 small arrows that hides and brings back your shoutbox you may have clicked on it by mistake

Why did the chatbox change?

Well, I guess a lot of you don't mind that much as long as there's a chatbox of some sort up there?

Evidently the last one had a bug in it and I was advised to disable it until it was fixed so I found another one meanwhile. Does the same thing.

Am I missing something here, there's no shout button ?????????

No "shout" button, just type your message in the message box at the left then hit enter on your keyboard. May take a second or two to refresh / appear.

If you want the chat constantly open in a new window, right-click on the Chatbox Full link at the top of the forum and select open in new window.

found it very easy to work and the edit button allows you to repair any mistake you make in your shout and it so far seems a lot quicker than the old one but ill reserve judgement on that till we see how it goes when busy

My Shout/chat box is about 1" wide - is this because of the new(?) 20 post rule?

Been a member since well before the major problems with the forum, although my cp only records my membership as 2005.

I would have thought that length of membership would have granted access.:blue:

Yes the chatbox at the moment is only that wide.

As the forum rules state "If you want to use additional features such as the chat-box or arcade, you need to be a regular, established visitor to the forum and have contributed a lot of useful stuff for people. Currently a postcount of 20 or more is required. "

If you've been a member all that time I am sure you must have plenty you could contribute to threads about the island and will soon be able to get your post count beyond the magical figure of 20 :tinysmile_fatgrin_t

We have people here members since 2005 who made no posts whatsoever in over 2 years, just log on for the arcade so unfortuantely no, length of membership doesn't help :(

Only 3 more useful bits of info to share and you get access to everything :)

if you type your message then press enter on your pc or laptop that is the button with the arrow and upward stroke as shown below the red arrow below

You type your shout & then press your enter button.

I can't see where to type the message. Under the shoutbox it says " Only registered users are allowed to post"

you may have to log in again. It happened to me once and then it seemed ok
