For those of you that fancy a bit of luxury on their holidays there are good deals at present to stay half board in Meloneras in one of the two fabulous Lopesan hotels. We have booked the hotels with www.lastminute.com (http://www.lastminute.com) and direct flights from Gatwick with www.ba.com (http://www.ba.com) to come out for two weeks at the end of March and saved hundreds of pounds.
Really looking forward to it.

Which one are you going to? I was repping in Gran Hotel Villa del Conde when I was out there in the Summer and it only opened in November 2004 - glorious hotel and fantastic location!! It is a massive hotel with 5 pools and the food is glorious!!!
Elena the PR lady is fantastic aswell as her colleagues so if you need anything then go to her!!
Have a great time!

We are staying 6 nights in PDI at Barcelo Margaritas and then 6 nights in Gran Costa. After reading some of the negative reiviews about Villa Del Conde we decided on Gran Costa.
Only 18 days to go and we cant wait.

Barcelo Margaritas is a good hotel - really good for families. It is a shame about Villa del Conde - they have only been open a year and there are teething problems that they need to actually recognise otherwise they will have negative feedback.
Have a fantastic time though - who have you booked Margaritas through?

What does "half-board" mean? It is not a term I am familiar with. And, did you enjoy your stay at the Lopesan hotles?

I stayed in the Gran Costa Meloneras many years ago when it was relatively new on a good deal price. I'm afraid to say, although the room was lovely, the staff and other guests left a lot to be desired with their very snooty, unfriendly and ignorant behaviour. It left me with the impression that I would rather stay in a friendly, 2 star bungalow complex than an unfriendly, posh but beautiful hotel any day. They would still be very much out of my price range now I'm afraid also, particularly places like the Villa del Conde.

I have just got back from the Lopespan Costa Meloneres having stayed there for 4 nights prior to going to our villa ,it was lovely ,rooms great ,breakfast was out of this world ,in comparison we went to their Italian restaurant down by the back gate and it was awful ,no atmosphere ,no choice and empty so we chose to eat away from the hotel on the other nights !
In fact We Liked it so much we have booked to go back in January.

seems like the 'demographic' demon is once again around here......
everyone to their own...read between the lines!

hmm...not sure what you mean by 'demographic demon' Liam??? Demographics is data based around sex, race, religion and how much money but it's just about experiences here isn't it? Isn't that what the forum is for?
I wasn't saying the Gran Costa is a complete washout. It isn't and is a gorgeous, high class hotel, however I myself did not enjoy the entire experience whilst I appreciate others have and will. I don't think this is a'demographic demon' as shared, differing opinions are welcomed here aren't they?

think liam means the torii review claire
what tori is saying is they were there on a b/b basis everything about the hotel was great but !! on trying the italian restaraunt for dinner which is situated away from the hotel they found the atmosphere a different kettle of fish and as though it was part of a differnt world hence they ate out for dinner at nights.
we enjoy the rius but at nights we love to go out as we love to enjoy the company of friends and visiting the many bars but during the day the entertainment experience is a different league to sitting on a beach all day dont think that is demographic just enjoying the best of both worlds
Hhmmmm think I put that the right way round lol

I stayed at Gran Hotel Villa del Conde and must say that it's grandiose.
The hotel is so great and offers good accommodation.
