First post, looking for info,
I used to live in the Canary Islands around seven years ago, on Tenerife, and as such am planning a move back to that part of the World. Just looking for some other information though.

During my last time there I did have a Residencia, NIE and NIF, pretty much the same thing, and all other pertinent papers etc. Now those have all obviously lapsed given the fact that the Residencia was / is (?) on ly valid for 5 years.

I moved from Tenerife to work on a contract in the Pacific in 2001. Now with that projects at an end I am looking to move back. I'm a British Citizen with all relevant papers etc but obviously don't wish to even contemplate going back to the weather and expense of London.

Basically I'm wondering what the whole process will entail with regards to new applications etc for Residencia, NIE etc? Would I be able to produce the older document and then get that updated etc?

I work as a freelance camera operator for wildlife productions and as such will also spend a considerable amount of time on other projects currently in consideration around south Africa so the Canaries would also be a suitable location as a base for that.

Also, what are the longterm rental situations like for Fuerteventura or Gran Canaria? Any suggestions.

Look forward to any feedback.
Thanks,
CamDiver

Wooooo, it's pretty quiet around here eh? I'll find what I need elsewhere.

Thanks,
Mark.

You may well have gone elsewhere but in case you havent.
Residencia situation has changed this year. You no longer get a card - just a piece of paper with you number on it. Apply for it at the police station.

Long term rentals - places wont hold anything for you and so you need to be looking nearer the time. To get and idea of prices try:
www.canary-property.com (http://www.canary-property.com)
www.cardenas-grancanaria.com (http://www.cardenas-grancanaria.com) as a starter
