OK. We’ve made the decision. We’re selling up and moving to Los Cristianos.
We know we’ll need a residencia once we arrive and will sort that out between exchange & completion of our UK property. We intend to rent as we don’t want to tie up capital. We are not looking for work as we have enough capital to retire on.
We would appreciate any suggestions regarding medical care – I have an ongoing medical condition (high blood pressure) that requires medication. Any help would be appreciated regarding obtaining medication and the costs involved.
As we will not be working, we understand that we will require medical insurance. Any suggestions welcome on how to go about obtaining it.
Are any immunisations required?
Dentists – How do we go about registering and paying?
Banks - What is the best procedure for transferring funds from the UK?
I believe we won't be able to open an account until we've got our residencia.
Spanish Credit cards – is it worth getting one and if so what are the pitfalls?
Is it better to stay with British credit card companies?
I’ve got David Hampshire’s book ‘Living & working in Spain’ which has been very useful, any other suggested reading.
I’m sure there will be many other things to check i.e. utilities, telephone companies, mobile phones, internet connection, Satelite TV, to name but a few.
We’d be most grateful for any suggestions to help ease the move and any pitfalls to avoid.
