Went back to Cafe La Belle again last night & had a great night. When I read in Tips & Info that you should book a table to avoid disappointmentI took it with a pinch of salt. But it is true it gets very busy. It is good to see because a lot of work has gone into the place. The show is very proffesional and well worth a visit.

That'd be great - I came back from a 2 week holiday 5 weeks ago but going again at end of Nov. Like you, usually looked in on La Belle most nights and it was as you say, a laugh. Would be good to know if it was going to be the same when I go back at end of Nov.

We are back on Thursday so will check it out. Sadly there are so many places all competing "for their share of the cake" that it must be very hard to maintain the staff levels. Because of the location of Cafe La Belle it is easy to watch the show without buying a drink.....and a lot do. But that doesn't pay wages. It used to be packed solid - but with tourist levels down it has been sparse at times. One thing is for sure - a crowd attracts a crowd. We have seen the New Year in there & had a great time.

Well I found the answers out to my questions myself when I was over there 2 weeks ago - Chris D'Bray has left, as has Fran .... for various reasons.
You would have thought that this would have had a huge imapct on the show, but No, it was still as good as ever. They still have the usual routines but have added new ones and any ones that Chris or Fran would have been in have been well and truly adapted and in some cases are better. I thought when I heard that these guys had left and various other comments on the forum that CLB was maybe going down hill, but from what i saw, it is as big as ever and going strong !!
I think they also have big ideas for next year, so here's hoping that it continues as good as it is

It's all been a bit quiet on this thread of late - has no1 got any recent comments about CLB - has ne1 been recently, what's it been like ?? ............. would be good to hear how it's going ?

I was over from 8th Jan - 22nd Jan. Started most nights of in CLB.......the show is still going strong. There were a couple of quiet nights - both on changeover days, otherwise, it was almost a packed house with the miserable beggars outside watching on the pavement without buying a drink.........as Belinda says, they go with budget holidays!
The show is excellent, Belinda, Skye, Mimi Lamar, Beverly Hills..........everyone, made us so welcome every night - we won the raffle 3 times, and ended up sozzled! Even the terrace waiters....particularly Mark Preston are great.......I even had the most embarassing experience of my life when Belinda dragged me on stage on my last night....but the least said about that the better. It's all great fun though!
Do check out the new website though....www.cafelabelle.com - I bought the DVD when I was over there, and it was worth every cent of the price!
Anyone else been over recently?
Alan
29th January 2007, 04:15 PM
Not been recently but going over in April (10 weeks on Saturday - not counting obviously !!!)
Was there in December and before that in October and spent every night in there for at least some of theeh night.
What did Belinda get you to do - have seen most of their routines when they "ask" the audience up - but what was it they "asked" you to do ?? Did you see Fran at all - last time I was there he had left, but according to website, hes still on the company's books ???

Hi
I've seen staff there about 8pm but the terrace is set up earlier so maybe about 7pm - I think Carlos does the setting up. Maybe ask on the CafeLaBelle.com website - they may be able to give you a more definite answer
