Hi Steve

Do you mean Porlamar? If so these overlook the Agua La Perra centre just through the tunnel beyond the harbour in Puerto Rico. Not many reviews around - the ones on Holidays uncovered suggest they are basic, clean and a good base for staying in PR. Nice easy walk to the main beach, shops and few restaurants close by.

Hiyah Chorlton,
Sorry my spelling mistake yes they are the ones I mean , I read the reports on hols uncovered and they sound just right for us as we dont intend staying in them during the day, we only need somewhere clean and safe to sleep, and the price is just right as well:thumb: , if anyone else has any more info or photos please post.

:thankyou: Steve

If someone doesnt get to them before me, I'm back in March and will nip up and take a few photos then. I'm sure they are in one of the holiday brochures my mum looked at so will get her to check

We used to stop there a few years ago in winter and then one year we were told that they were not available in the winter for us brits only the scandi's, so we went up the hill to the Aquacanis.
When we did stop there we found them clean and the staff were friendly.
I don't no if they are available again in winter or just the summer months.

We have just returned from the Porlamar apartments which are situated just above the Agua la perra shopping center, the apartment we stayed in was fairly small but was ok for the three of us, it was very clean and had just been renovated, the kitchenette had a two ring cooking hob and also had a toaster and a microwave both of which were brand new plus a breakfast bar with stools, it had the usual bedroom with two single beds plus mirrored wardrobes and bedside tables, the bathroom had a toilet and sink unit plus a bath with shower above it and plenty of hot water supplied by what looked like a new water boiler, in the lounge area was a bed/setee plus a cupboard unit with TV, the balcony was a good size with table and chairs plus 2 loungers, the maid came in every day to clean except sunday and changed the towels and sheets often, the apartments have a safe to keep your valuables in, the apartment complex has a small pool with plenty of sunbeds and a poolside bar run by Haley who does a decent breakfast and also evening meals but we did not try these. all in all I would recomend the porlamar to anyone.

There are around 45 steps down to the agua la perra shopping center with some really good restaraunts and a couple of bars, plus a good sized Netto, there is a cashpoint attached to a gift shop and they also change travelers cheques , taxis cost about 2-50 euros into the main CC and about 4 euros to the europa center, a short walk down the hill ( 5 minutes) brings you to the harbour and about 10 minutes to the beach

Hi,

No sorry I dont, we've never had to use the safe and have a friend who lives there and keeps our fan stored for us, so we just collect it when we get there.

Hi,

I was wondering if someone can help me. Am taking my first trip to Gran Canaria in 5 weeks and will be arriving in the early hours, can anyone tell me whether the reception is open 24 hours?

I have been assured my the agency that I have booked the accomodation that there will be someone there, but it would be nice to hear from anyone that has stayed there.

Thanks in advance

Hi Debs I can't speak for this apartment personally BUT in the smaller apartments I have stayed in there has always been someone up waiting even if its only to hand over your key and you do the rest of the check in the next day (i.e. if you want a safety deposit box etc). Remember if you don't get a safe on your first night to keep all your valuables with you until you do.

We stayed in the porlamar apartments last year and the reception was closed at night, but You will definately be able to get your key I think I saw the lady who runs the bar give keys to ppl on night arrivals, Hope you enjoy your stay we certainly did.

hi debs,
No the reception is not open at night, in fact its a bit of a hit and miss to get it open during the day lol!
But you can be assured that there will be somebody there to give you your keys and tell you where to go.
You will love the porlamar i was there in July and it was fantastic!
Tell Hayley I said hi!
Good Luck

thanks for all the quick replies!

Was just abit nervous as have booked flights and accomodation separately and don't want to arrive at 3am in morning with no access to keys and no where to sleep, especially as it's my first time to Gran Canaria!

Can't wait

Debs, The porlamar is small and friendly, reception is not open all day and there is a night security guard who will be there for your arrival. If there is any party nights at the pool bar, dont miss it, but watch out if you win any of the quizzes, the cocktail that you get as a prize can be lethal, I know i've got the scar to prove it  , but, haley makes sure that you have a great time:thumb:

Have a great time
