Hi All...just joined this Forum, after finding it very useful reading in the past.

Just booked up for 9 days in PDI over Xmas...what's it like there at that time of year? Hoping there will be a bit of life...! Anyone got any suggestions where the best place to spend Xmas day itself is?

Not stayed in PDI before - only visited in taxi from Puerto Rico...so any info to help us get around will be appreciated.

Thanks C/x

Playa del Ingles in the winter season is lovely. This year we had the hottest winter in many years. It is more windy here than Puerto Rico. Remember to bring a warm sweater and trousers for the evening/night. It is not hot hot hot, but it is very comfortable around 20 degrees. Tourists wear shorts and tshirt - as the uk and scandinavia is very cold at that time so the weather in GC feels like a mild summer back home. It is scandinavian season so not that many english about but go to the english, irish and scottish bars and there will be for sure.
Xmas night I am sure there are some bars that make a special deal out of it even though it is not really celebrated in the same manor here. Last year I went to a chinese restaurant with my mother.. When I know where IŽll post on here the places that will have Xmas on its menu:-)

Hi Cazzy
If you want a night of traditional theatre and dinner with dancing till dawn then maybe keep a night free to visit us at the casino , as we are doing a very xmas show and good old british xmas dinner with all the trimmings .dates have not been confirmed yet but the show will definatly have a xmas theme to it for the month of dec maybe from around the 10th
through to first week of jan ,with all the trimmings you expect from a vegas show. SO AS THEY SAY WATCH THIS SPACE !!!!!!!!!

We regularly spend Xmas & New Year in PDI. Everything will be open. You can choose to eat non-traditional food or find restaurants catering for Traditional Christmas Dinner - I recommend Moby's for that.

i am also spending Christmas in PDI with my boyfriend, we are going over for Xmas and New year though. We dont do the traditional Xmas dinner, thats why we get away from things, we normally have our Xmas dinner back home either before or after we go with the family. The last 2 years have been in Lanzarote though, we have never been to Gran Canaria before, this will be our first time.
