heard the name vencindario mentioned a few times on this site where is this place?

vecindario is by the airport you pass it on the way to puerto rico

Vicendario is just off the main motorway called GC1, Exit 28 about 12 kilometers south of the airport. As you travel from the airport, you will see this very large built-up area on your right-hand side. If you want to visit a non-tourist town and see how the local canarians live, this is to place to go. Be aware however that most of the businesses close from about 1pm to 4pm. Atlantico Shopping centre, with a great range of shops and cinema is also located here....it does not close at any time during the day and is open till abut 10:30pm. Nice place to go if the temperature are becoming unbearable as it is air-conditioned. Global bus No1 will take you from Puerto Rico. I do not know the bus numbers from the other resorts. If you wish to visit Atlantico, get off the bus where you see a large sculpture of a hand pointing upwards.

hi all just thought i'd add that the 90 and i think the 25 go to atlantico from playa de ingles by the yumbo hardrock cafe or tropical center bus station. there are a lot of other shops on the main drag of aveneda de canarias which i will add go's from el doctoral to arinaga.
along the whole of this route you will find some really nice shops that have a beautiful aray of things for sale . clothes are very reasonable, aswell as lots of other typically spanish artifacts that would make excellent pressies or just as something to take home from your hols. all prices this end are very reasonable and not a rip off like p.d.i. tho you cannot barter up this end of town. take a look for yourself as there are lots of coffee shops and tapas bars here aswell. regards kellygirl

Hi kellygirl, have been to atlantico how far from there is the main drag of shops, like to go to unusual shops rather than the ones that are in PDI etc.

Go to the top floor in the shopping centre in Atlantico. walk to the cinema end where you may leave the centre by the rear entrance. Walking in the same direction as you leave the entrance will take you there as the main street is directly behind Atlantico. Takes about 5 - 7 minutes to get to the main street.

hi just to mention you can then get the 36 and the 01 from the otherside of the avenida de canarias this is avenida de moyo wich will take you back to playa or even to p.r for the no 1 .
one thing with canarians they dont buy cheap tat but good quality. enjoy!!!:grin:
