If you're really wanting to get away from UK people and go on a really posh holiday - whether it be an annual occurance or a once in a liftime event then where would you recommend?

The Maldives?

Monoco?

Antartica?

have to say i absolutely loved Orlando as well, but this year we're off to Australia for christmas and i imagine that's going to be pretty amazing too. We're doing a mini tour, few days in Singapore on the outbound, then Melbourne, Brisbane, Alice Springs, Murray River, Ayers Rock, Cairns, Sydney and finally Hong Kong on the way home for a few days.

Xmas dinner Aussie style for us this year, shrimps on the barbie and all that cr@p lol

Well my favourite holiday was when i visited Sri Lanka many years ago,i stayed in a 4 star hotel on the beach front (a suite)The holiday cost peanuts but so beautiful.Lovely beaches where you could stroll for miles and not see anybody.I explored Sri Lanka in great detail.A lovely country but sadly threatened by the ¨conflictions¨ with the Tamil Tigers and the internal politics. Beautiful country and lovely people.

I've never had a posh holiday I don't think. I've stayed in lovely hotels at places that I love but whether others would consider them posh I don't know. Its a bit down to personal taste and your budget. If you've only ever had a wet weekend in Whitby then 2 weeks in the med might seem bliss. If I had a choice of destination to return to again and again (outside of GC obviously) it would be Barcelona and the surrounding area. Thats my idea of holiday heaven.

agree with chorlton there eg. marina suites is a great holiday for us wouldnt say posh but yet people have come in for a look and we have overheard them say that its a posh folks hotel or just for the rich.
anyway need help here we would like to go to that hotel in the desert that has been made to looke like a beach resort with fake sea etc think it may be in abu dhabi or something like that anyone know what it is called?

Yes, sounds like the Burj Al Arab. Dubai was our posh holiday last year for our 25th anniversary. Went for cocktails in the skyview bar up there, absolutely fantastic views to the palm islands. Wouldnt stay there (even if we could afford it) too OTT for me, but worth going just to see it. Luxury hotels like you've never seen and they really know how to treat you. Gold and diamonds everywhere, and the best shopping ever.

Poshest place I've been is Nassau (Bahamas) as a kid with my parents. 5* hotel was on private beach. Had hotel guys bringing new towels and drinks to you on the beach. Stirling moss was there with his family and was usually on the beach at same time!

I also remember about 15 years ago I went on holiday with my girldriend (at the time) and my dad and brother. We stayed in palm spring calfornia but needed to travel to LA. After a few days it became apparent that the main route between the 2 places was worse than the m25 and took hours just to travel a few miles we decided to move. So we called my godfathers new wife who was head of LA tourism to help us. And did she. We got 2 suites in a 5* hotel in beverley hills...usually they charged like £600 a night but we got it for £60 a night...due to her 'connections'. Had the hole nightly turn down service and our own guy 24/7 on reception that you just dialled and he'd sort anything for you...absolutely amazing. How the other half live!

Karen......PLEASE tell us ALL about it!!!!

Who did you fly with?

Holiday company any good? Would you recommend them?

What about the resort/accomodation? Up to standard?

Would you go again?

Was it you're "best" holiday ever? If not, what was?

I, for one, really, really want to hear about Karen's holiday in the Carribean (the only place in the world better than the Canaries!! ??)

C'mon guys you must have questions - ask away cos Karen'll give you honest answers unlike the holiday companies.

Take it away Karen............

XL.

Holiday company any good? Would you recommend them?
Booked Flights with Golden Caribbean. Yes would recommend them.

What about the resort/accomodation? Up to standard?
Island - Nevis nr St Kitts. Absolute paradise. White quiet secluded beaches, blue sea. Stayed at a friend's house which was beautiful and up to standard big style.

Would you go again?
Do you really need to ask.

Was it you're "best" holiday ever? If not, what was?
It certainly was. It was so relaxing. The Nevis people were very friendly.
