Hi
In May I am going on my 8th holiday to Playa Del Ingles.
I usually go self catering, but found a good deal for half board this year at the BuenaVentura.

I have read many good reviews about it, but also a few bad ones, too.
These mainly mention the amount of Germans that stay there!!

I am sure you good people who are members of this wonderful forum can give me some honest opinionson the hotel BuenaVentura. Come on, i can take it, good or bad.

If anyone wants my opinions on any of these following appartments, where I have previously stayed, I will be more than happy to do so......

Strelitzias......Playa Del sol......Santa Clara.....Santa Fe....Barbados.....Corona Blanca......Liberty.

i've stayed at this hotel about 7 years ago and i was very satisfied, the room was nice, the food was good, and the locaion of the hotel is fantastic! so what if there are many germans in the hotel? i don't care about that kind of things. i don't remember the way it was when i was there but why should it matter anyway? :)

If you are going in May, remember that Pride is on. It starts from Hiotel Buenaventura so for 1 day there will be really loud music and loads of people celebrating in the road/carpark at the front of the hotel. But it's not to be missed.......

Hi Alan, Hotel Buenaventura is located off Ave de Tenerife not far away from the Irish centre. The walk down to the beach will take you about 15 mins!!

Yes,now this is a very popular hotel in Playa del Ingles.A massive set up with basic accommodation. Now you may think that i am a snob(that's because i am)but i can only describe this hotel as a "Butlins holiday camp" it reminds me a bit of the hotel in "Holiday on the buses"(Reg varney). But if you like the large hotels, with a constant "racket" blasting through the speakers by the pool then it will be fine. It's not my choice but a lot of people love it and keep on returning,as i said before it is very popular.

mmm, the more I read, the less I like the sound of this place. I don't intend being in the hotel much, will be at beach through the day and out at night after dinner. The "Butlins Holiday Camp" is worrying " - anyone else got any other comments on this place ???

i stayed in buenaventura in jan last year and have no complaints about the hotel. there are lots of germans though, but we got a good laugh out of watching them playing their silly pool games. the hotel itself is very nice, modern rooms with air conditioning which makes a huge difference. the rooms are cleaned every day and clean sheets daily aswell. good choice of bars and restaurants. just beside the irish centre and about 5 mins walk from the kasbah. would def go back if i got a good deal again as its usually very expensive in the brochures. enjoy your holiday:nodding:

Thanks from me too - I go 3 weeks on Saturday (20th) and as long as its clean etc then thats all im bothered about. I stayed at the escorial last year and again that was full of germans but you deal with that and it doesnt bother me anyway. For all the time im in the hotel anyway - thanks for all your comments !!!

I've just returned from a fantastic week at hotel Buenaventura.

The food was great, the location was great, the views were great, the staff were great, the hotel was very clean...the list goes on....

I have been to PDI 7 times before, always staying in different accommodation, but I will DEFINATELY be returning to Buenavantura.

I can recommend it to anyone....

i have just returned from the hotel beunaventura and it is great.

To start with the flight wasn`t as long as the brochure said and the transfer time is just 25 Min's and not 40 Min's like it says in most brochures.:banghead:

The hotel is FAB, very clean and friendly, my wife is disabled and can get a bit frustrated sometimes when we go away, but here they treated her like a queen and helped us out with loads of disability helping stuff at NO extra cost.:thankyou:

the food is great and considering they cater for over 1400 people at each sitting , they put a good selection of dishes on. try the pate at breakfast on a warm crisp roll its to die for.

OH there is also some wild green parrots nesting in the beautiful mature gardens.

Just back from a week at the Hotel Buenaventura and would have no trouble in recommending this to anyone. Previous posts refer to it being like Butlins etc but I didnt think this was the case at all. The hotel looked great when we arrived at it and the reception looked very up market. We were given a room but requested a change to a higher floor which was no trouble at all. The room was great, VERY clean and had a great view (8th floor) and was very comfortable. Only comment I would make is that the corridors looked a bit tatty (the carpets could do with being replaced or lifted in favour of tiles) - but when you consider the number of guests walking these corridors, that can only be expected - they weren't dirty or anything, just slightly "used" looking. The meal times were fine - dinner was great - great choice of foods, plenty salads, chicken, meat, fish, pasta, all the choices that you would want, even pizza for those with more basic requirements, as well as chips, potatoes, rice - so no complaints there. The breakfasts were just as good, continental, cooked (bacon, eggs, sausages, beans, toast), croissants, pastries, cakes, muffins, plenty fruit, so no complaints in the food dept at all. The staff were clearing tables constantly, so no build up of dishes on the tables and the staff were very friendly. There was an area to sit outside the restaurant aswell which was good. All in all, an excellent hotel - room was cleaned daily, even late in the day, if long lies were wanted - you could hang a card on the door to have room cleaned later rather than early in the morning and the staff always accomodated this. I will definately be going here again.

really good hotel, everything you would nee din a hotel, it has everything.. 2 bad things there is a receptionist called ravelo, an old bloke who has a really bad attitude problem and doesnt show any respect or good customer skills, the second thing being that the hotel is too german orietated, i no everyone goes on about this and it really isnt a problem, but one thing that got a bit to me was when Germany where playing the world cup and won there game all the germans came back to out hotel and started being all mouthy and loud, if the english fans were to do that we would get into trouble and be classed as hooligans, this i did find really bad.. i must add i am not one of these people who likes to moan, im not a die hard england so called chavvy fan who wants to fight for pride etc.. all i want to do is put my point across

Just got back from this hotel on July 31st- Like everyone else was a bit concerned by the reviews that I had read, but me and my 3 friends (all 18 years olds!) really liked the hotel. The smaller pool was nice and quiet as found the entertainment a bit loud in the main pool- especially at night so feel sorry for any young children with rooms adjacent to this pool!! Food was good,a large selection, especially at breakfast and we always found something to eat. Shop downstairs overcharges greatly, so recommend the supermarket just down the road.

Good hotel in great location, okay maybe aimed at the germans, but if you overlook this, it is a good hotel with large rooms and great facilities!

Ria!

Glad you enjoyed the hotel. I go 3 weeks today, so looking forward to it. Liked the restaurant - always sat outside for breakfast and dinner, nice & relaxing and as you say, food was great.

We went over Christmas and New Year and they really push the boat out! Massive nativity display in the reception area, the size you would find in a uk shopping centre!

New years eve was fantastic, balloons up everywhere live music at every bar... fantastic atmosphere. When we arrived back at around 3am new years day morning there was even cleaners picking up party streamers from the main entrance constantly cleaning.

Our room was over looking the pool to the left, the lively one on the first floor of accomadation and we loved sitting out on the balcony watching (would sit out with the entertainers during the day by the pool!).

Food was great, loads of lifts that worked, great cashless swipe card system of which they refunded the end balance at check out.

Would thoroughly recommend it but sadly this year won't be going away due to the Monday flights from exeter falling on christmas day/new years day... Been for the last three years though so can't complain! Stayed at the Liberty previously twice prior to re-fit and couldn't fault it then either...
Anyone looking at either hotel go for it!:santa:

My girlfriend stayed there in May with her friend and liked it but said the food left a lot to be desired. We've now just come back from a week in Playa staying at the Liberty Apartments and she says she'd never go back to the Buenaventura after enjoying the Liberty so much.

Hi Ally,
To be honest, there isn't much between them (apart from a road, and about 200 yards!!)

We stayed at Barbados in 2002, with the kids, and had a great time. It has 2 pools and kids pools, it was very clean, and the staff very friendly.

We stayed at the Liberty appts, last November (without the kids). It had just been refurbished, and was having a few 'teething' problems, such as no safety deposit boxes, leeking sinks and faulty kettles. This didn't spoil the holiday, though, the staff were nice, and it was spotless.

If I had to choose between the two of them, I would choose Barbados, only because, if you are unlucky at Liberty, you might end up with a room facing on to the main road (a rubbish view, and quite noisy), although you could get lucky and a nice pool view.

At the Barbados, all rooms have a pool view.

This is the only reason I can state for choosing one over the other, as they are fairly near each other, and are both very handy for the Yumbo centre and the Gran Chapperral.

Whichever you choose, have a great time, and let me know what you think when you return.

Think it will be Barbados, liked the sound of it on other reviews too, we go to PDI, every year, usually to the Tamaran, but for some strange reason it has vanished from the sunset brochure and website for next year, hate going somewhere different when we have been used to the Tamaran. Will let you know if all goes well. cheers.

Have just returned (yesterday ) from my fourth holiday to Gran Canaria and can hand on heart say I loved it at this hotel. Fair enough the caprets may need replacing but i don't go on holiday for carpets so I didn't even pay attention to it. The room was immaculate as was the pool area and the food was fantastic. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, I enjoyed having the two pools with one being the accepted quiet pool where you weren't disturbed by the entertainment staff!! Really like the cool swipe system where you put money on your card and used it at the various bars in the hotel and to purchase lunch (saved carrying cash around the pool). Even the nightclub nearby didn't bother us, wouldn't have known it was there. It is catered towards the Germans but I've stayed in 4 different places in GC and can honeslty say they were all the same. We're def going back to playa next year in Nov again and are seriously considering rebooking this hotel as opposed to our normal routine of always trying somewhere different

Hi Andy
I spent my honeymoon there in 2000. It was very good, very clean and an ideal location in the centre of resort.

I understand that it has recently been refurbished, so it's probably even better now!!

I've just been looking into the possibility of staying at the hotel Beanaventura this November or December, but the Lopesan website says that it is closed during this period.

Does anyone know if it is being refurbished?

In my opinion, it doesn't need it. When we were there in May,the main pool was being refurbed, but I can't really see that anything else needs doing.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Just a quick post to say that, when we returned to the Buenaventura last month, the standards were as high as ever.

So much so, that we have just booked again for next May, this will be our fifth time at the Buenaventura.

I simply cannot recommend this hotel highly enough!
