Hello all, im new here, so ive got a few questions for you.
Ive been to la palma and fuerteventura, and liked them both. I thought the beaches were not up to much in la palma, but a drive into the hills more than made up for them.
Anyway, last year i tried scuba diving in the dom rep and got as far as scuba diving, i would like to carry on and get my open water certoficate and i have been told that GC has an amazing marine reserve.Im PADI by the way.
So, my questions are
A: Does gran canaria have nice beaches ?

B: Does it have good diving ?

Im hoping to come out at the end of march.

Thanks.

Welcome roon.

Cant help you with the diving but someone will get back to you on that later.

Gran Canaria has lots of nice beaches again the members who live in GC will advise you.

I like the beach in Mogan and Amadores.

Hi

Yes and Yes. My son who dives regularly says the diving is great. They cater for all. There are several places offering diving. PR diving is very good in PR, I am sure others will tell you similar of othjer places. I would say however that the water will not be as warm as the Dominican Republic!
The beach question depends on what you want from a beach. Tell us what you are loking for and I am sure some one will tell you which beach is best.

Think PR has an older client base, perhse more families, not really sure. Where ever you decide there are bars and clubs for all groups of people.

Prefer Puerto Rico myself. Lots of good bars and a couple of night clubs.

It all depends what you are into. Personally I like Bora Bora and Covent Garden. You can sit and relax. Listen to the music, dance if you want to.

if you are looking for a fun bar, Snoopys and Donalds.

I would recomend either Puerto Rico or even better Las Palmas. If you're not there to party and drink Las Palmas is an amazing city to see! My mother and I fell totally in love with it.

There is a big city's energy but no angry stressed out people. Lots of good places to shop and the small streets are very interesting to explore. You can get a real bargain if you find the right streets. We lived a place where you could see the beach to one side and the harbour on the other.

We walked around so much our feet and legs where totally done but we didn't notice until we went to bed at night because out on the streets of Las Palmas we where too absorbed in what was happening around us.
I was 28 and my mom 64 at the time so there is something for all ages!

What ever you choose I'm sure you will love Gran Canaria!:have-fun:

Puerto Rico is built on two sides of a valley. So places have great views but the roads are quite steep. Taxis are cheap though. 2 comercial centres, one in the valley and one at the top of the hill. Both quite family orientated but kids seem to stay up very late!!!
Amadores - seen as part of puerto rico but much quieter
Playa del ingles and maspalomas are more spread out but surrounding each hotel or apartment complex, there will be commercial centres where all the shops, bars and clubs are. Area built around the Dunes - natural reserve, a little bit of desert by the sea.
Mogan - apartements built around a small fishing harbour. Very nice but quite grown up!! Far away from the other tourist areas.
Something for everyone really

hiya well i only came here for a job i work for canary diving in GC and that was 2 years ago, so i can say it is a nice to place to dive, and as for where to stay i do live in Mogan, i am 30 and its actually a loverly place to stay very prety and quiet no clubs but very nice local pubs to drink and some nice places to eat, and only a short bus ride from puerto Rico, which is nice for the odd night but as they say nice place to visit wouldnt wanna live there :)
whatever you want you willa ctually find it in Gran Canaria at the moment the weather is nice and hot in the day and mild in the evening which is perfect to sit out in so come over you'l love it....
