At the moment I am on medication to control Hypertension, and high Cholesterol.
If I was to live in Gran Canaria is it possible to get these drugs. Mary if you can help.
at the moment I see my G P once every three months to monitor my current health, so could you advise me of any good private health scheme running over there, and do you subscribe to it, I would appreciate any advice and help.

We are with DKV which is a spanish health scheme but they dont include medications - so they wouldn't be any good to you plus when you go over 60 the premiums rocket up. DKV's agent is Enrique. His number is 928 411 470. he speaks very good english and will advise you on costs. he does other insurances too - house etc. Mapfre are similar but we dont deal with them. Both of them seem to have alot of exclusions and you can only see a doctor who is on their list
BUPA international is quite good and i have heard that the premiums are less than the two schemes above if you are over 60 or 65. You can usually see who you like and claim later
We can see you and monitor your medications etc, just like in the uk. Each consultation is around 50€. Now, if you only see us once a month that is fine and much much less than insurance premiums. The only problem would be is if you need an operation or hospital type things. Then you need insurance unless you become a resident and then can use the NHS here. In the short term, you can use your EHIC card to access the NHS here.
So, there are a few choices there for you.
Ask again, if there is anything more I can help you with.

Thanks Mary
If I sent you a private message with my medication could you please try to find out for me approximately what it would cost per month.
