a lot of confusion and questions have been asked of the suites they sit facing the shady side of the mountain have massive balconies with sun loungers very handy for the commercial centre a short walk away balconies get the sun for the largest part of the day its a fair little walk to the beach from here but that is the only downside great views of the aqua park and the new motorway bridge crossing the mountains.
and wait for it you can give nurse mary at the medical clinic a wave every morning from your balcony across the valley on a more serious note this complex is well worth a visit and owen has them n his books at http://www.islascanariastours.com/

Just returned from the above and to be honest we had a really nice holidy
The hotel room was spotless and cleaned every day. Location was not to bad but the stairs back from the shopping center were a bit of a bugger at night after a few beers ,meal etc.Food at the pool bar was excelent and not to expensive but the beer was 4 euro a pint.
The pool was perfect but the tables and chairs ect round it could have been cleaned more.
Would recomend this hotel to friends

Does anyone have an E mail address for the Terrazamar Suites.

We are trying to book them for January but I got an E mail back from a guy telling me that we can't book them at this time as they are let out to the Scandinavians at that time of year.

anyone trying to get the terrazamar sunsuites for december should try airtours operator, they definetly have them from going from dublin, just booked a family deal they had on, cost for 2adults 2 kids and infant was £735 for a week in december.someone told me that was brillant as they are hard to book in the winter due to the scandi season.

Myself and my other half stayed in these apts in Dec 05! They are the best apts we've stayed in in PR bar none! They have seperate bedroom, kitchen, bathroom(power shower) and lounge and the balcony/terrace is HUGE! The staff are brilliant! We've booked again for the last 2 weeks in Sept! Living for it! You wont be disapointed with these apts! Enjoy!!

Em..... On two of the evenings we went to eat in the restaraunt (entertainment just outside restaraunt) there was some, one night there were spanish singers & dancers and i think the other night there were just singers! We're both 23 & 24 so it wouldnt have been our cup of tea, although i quite enjoyed it on both occasions!
As we rarely stayed in the complex at night I dont know about any other entertainment they may have had on! But the commercial centre is only a flight of steps downwards away!
And sure we might even meet up for a beer sum night!

It's a huge relief to hear good reviews about these apartments as my b/f and I are due to go there on 7th Oct 2006. It's also the first time to Gran Canaria for both of us. Our tickets came 2 days ago and i'm now really excited and counting down the days, especially after reading the reviews! Can't wait - bring it on!!!!!

Hi, just returned from the Terrazamar sunsuites and i have to say it was my most enjoyable holiday for a long while, the reviews i have read on lots of sites were spot on - clean fresh apartments, HUGE balconies, good pool area nd sun terraces. the entertainment was good but mainly by the reps so not as professionmal, but they tried.
Anyway enjoyed it so much i booked it again for July nest year but for 2 weeks this time.

Ross85
9th October 2006, 12:39 AM
I loved it, very clean. I didnt want to come back:(. Because i was omn the 6th floor the balconies were extra big because thats where the lifts stop and then go onto the higher floors. the balcony was bigger than the apartment. I would recommend it to any1

Factor25
11th October 2006, 04:55 PM
We also thought it was very good there, just got home Monday. Extra large balcony on the corner of the ground floor, as we didnt want to be near the lifts because we heard it can be very noisy (probably would have been better on a higher floor) but that was only a minor thing. Ceiling fans a godsend during the night as this was our 3rd visit in October and never known it this hot. Short walk to cc so M&Ms was usually our last call on the way home.

My b/f and I returned from the Terrazamar Sunsuites (6th Floor) this morning.
I must say we've had a really enjoyable holiday. The apartments were nice and clean, well equipt and as everyone else has already said the balconies are so huge - you could have right party on them!!!

We had breakfast once at the poolside bar - which was very nice and not too expensive. But the glasses of coca cola were expensive (6€ for two glasses!).
There is a spanish Elvis tribute on Wednesday evening - worth going to see for the humour of it!!! Don't get me wrong he was quite good, but at times we couldn't understand a word he was saying which made it rather amusing!
All the staff were very friendly and always helpful. The only small qualm i had was that a couple of small items went missing after the cleaners had been in (my contact lense case and a razor). I knew for certain i hadn't thrown themaway (especially not my contact lense case) but i never saw then again! I didn't bother reporting it because they were such small items, but i was rather annoyed when the next day we left the Do Not Disturb sign on the door so the cleaners wouldn't touch our room and yet they still did!! :banghead:

Overall a great holiday and a great place to stay.

on reading numourous reviews it sounds like we have got a good replacement hol.

A good deal indeed! The old mhan and I have just come back from the Royal, and they were excellent. Spotlessly clean (cos they're just new) and very well equipped, with microwave, electric rings, toaster, and juicer, as well as lots of crockery etc. Bathrobes provided, also towels for the pool.Bottle of wine, bottle of water and bowl of fruit await you on arrival. The balcony has a table, parasol, 3 chairs and 3 loungers, and gets the sun all day. Two pools to choose from, the top one in a lovely setting against the cliffs. Didn't go to the bars there, but no doubt somebody did!!

Happy hols!

just to add to mharies piece air conditioning is available at 36 euros a week a bargain in those hot summer nights and mharie has also sent me piccies which I will put onsite soon.
only downfall of these apts are they lose the sun late afternoon but then they are the first to get the sun at dawn so by late afternoon you will have had enough sun anyway

Well done, Rab, I forgot about the air con! When you pay the 36 euros, the unit is activated by reception, and works very well. There is also a safety deposit, which was free. There's a wee shop in the lobby, as well as a small bar, and a baker's which sells snacks and ice cream!!!
After reading another post about inflated prices, I booked that particular week for less than £500 for two.

Yes - they have an underground car park, both for the Suites and the Sun Suites over the road. In fact I would think it is a shared garage.:have-fun:

The suites were built first, and on the lowest level, followed by the sunsuites a wee bit higher up, and the newest are the sunsuites royal at the very top. When we were there a couple of weeks ago the suites were closed, but I don't know if they were being refurbished. In the royal there is proper air conditioning at 36 euros a week, but when we stayed in the sunsuites we hired a fan from reception. As far as I know some other apartments have ceiling fans, but ours didn't. Without a doubt the royal are the best apartments, as long as three separate lift journeys doesn't bother you! This doesn't matter at night, as your taxi can drop you at the door of the royal, though the Old Mhan and I didn't work that out till night 3!!

I phoned Direct customer services about this and was told that Direct only used the Sunsuites and did not have a contract with the Suites or Sunsuites Royal. The only difference you will see is that you do not get a free child with Sunsuites A whereas you do with G.Therefore Terrazamar Sunsuites A is always more expensive than G.Hope this helps.

Hello all.

First post here!

I'm booked up and heading to the Terrazamar in early Aug. Stayed at the Sunsuites before and it's a tremendous apartment complex. Not sure which part of the complex we'll be staying in this time so could be Suites, Sunsuites or maybe even the new Royal Sunsuites. Who knows!... Anyway the reason for my post is that I read elsewhere that one of these 3 parts of the Terrazamar complex is currently closed. Possibly for a refurb. I think it might be the Suites but I don't no for sure.

Can anyone please provide confirmation on the following:

(a) Is one of the parts of the Terrazamar complex definitely closed at the moment?
(b) Which part is closed? Am I correct in thinking it's the Suites?
(c) Any idea how long it will be closed for?
(d) Is there any impact on the other parts of the complex i.e. noise/dust/building works etc....

Any info would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

G.

I think you'll find that all of the Terrazzamar complex will be open well before you go in August. This time of the year (May/June) is regarded as the quietest time of the year in the Canaries. Most work is done on periodic updates on the many complex's during this period. Normally all building works are completed in time for the main Brit season, that' s July onwards !!!!!!

It was the bottom part - the one with the yellow umbrellas (i can never remeber which is which). Its open now. I think it was closed due to booking numbers and reduced staff

Im booked up to stay at the Suites in September and just wondered if anyone could answer a few questions??

im booked with flyglobespan and i done this because the price was really good but also beacuse i wanted to stay in the suites so we could have aircon/ceiling fans, does anyone know if you always get the suites when booking with globespan??

Also, does any1 recommend making a request for a high/low floor or anything like that, it seems really hard to picture the apts beacuse they arent your traditional high rise!
Thanks anyway!

I'm booked with globespan for Sept and booking says suites...thats what we got last year. I don't think it matters too much about floor..it depends what you will be doing, pool is at top, but commercial centre is 5 mins walk from the bottom. Was great last year and am counting the weeks

we stayed in the royal and the accomodation was first class lovely quiet pool on top floor rooms were clean and tidy massive balcony and once you got used to the 4 lift journeys down to the commercial centre path it was pretty pain free.

only complaint would be people leaving the entrance door open day and night it allows the bloody cockroches in (and trying to kill one when drunk in a lift ain't easy )

We stayed at the Suites (yellow parasols) and were a wee bit disappointed with the bathroom, for the age of the apartments they were in a bit of a state, fittings not secured properly. Overall though they were really good, the huge balcony was great and the location superb, only a 5 min walk to the centre but you don't get any of the noise at night.

I agree, the sunsuites are fab, just returned from 2 weeks there and the only complaint i've got is the grumpy pool bar staff!!!, but apart from that i can't fault this accomodation. There was a ceiling fan in the living room and also air conditioning if you wanted it, it costs 60 euros for the 2 weeks but we didn't need it with having the ceiling fan. We arrived late at night with our 2 boys and there was a nice cold bottle of water in the fridge. On the day of our departure we got to keep our room for 30 euros as we didn't leave til 8:30 at night.

Got to agree with you about the poolbar staff, we found that they also served the spanish before anyone else and often stood chatting. We solved the problem by bringing bottles of drink from our apartment so didn't to buy drinks. This was my 12th visit to PR but my 1st time staying at the sunsuites and its 1 of the nicest we've stayed in. We were that pleased with it we've booked to stay there again next aug for 2 weeks. Wanted to go a week earlier than last time but it was already booked up.

Yer the Spanish were defo getting the special treatment and also 'special prices', we noticed they were ordering a lot more food than us but paying considerably less!!!!

Hi all,
I have booked up to go back again (3rd time) to the Terrazamar Sunsuites in August. Normally it's just the one room for the four of us, but this time there will be two rooms for eight of us. My question is, with me booking the two rooms together, will the two rooms be next door to one and other? or will it just be pot luck?
I do have the apartments email address. So would you recomend that I email them near the date to see if they could keep the two rooms together ?
cheers :thumb: audenshawred

visited these apts jan 2008 and have added some more pics to the ones that were sent to me by mharie.
found these apts to be very good value for the money, fantastic large balconies a/c which is an extra 35 euro per week. lovely lounge area with tv etc. large bathroom nice airy bedroom where the a/c is housed kitchen area with all the mod cons required and a full size fridge freezer. fantastic large pool which for some reason no one was using. later found that the reason for this was that the sunsuites across the road had entertainment, and a snackbar that was open all day and no facilities at the royal you have to use the sunsuites. perfect for that quite lazy day though at the royal pool.
for anyone wanting first class accomodation at a very reasonable price this is the place to stay. pics of the sunsuites royal http://rab.c.fotopic.net/c1295935.html

Hi Vicky,
My family and I stayed here last year and are staying there again in 10 days time. We had to vacate the rooms by 12.00 noon, we did ask if we could keep our room on (we asked this the 2nd day we were there) but were told the day before departure that no rooms were available.
We were very fortunate to have made friends who let us keep our hand luggage at their home and shower there. But i must say the shower rooms at the terrezzamar were extremely clean and we would have been happy to use them and cases were stored securely.
Hope you enjoy your hol's..

Email address is terrazmar@servatur.com or sunsuite@servatur.com. If you mail the sunsuite email one you can enquire about the royal ones above the sunsuite apts. If they are available you can upgrade for €15 extra per day to move to the royal ones.

They have a website www.servatur.com but this only shows the interior of the sunsuites etc.

Been looking at these apartments for next year.

Been quoted £1933.00 by Direct Hols, £1494.00 by Thomas Cook, same date, same flight, flying from Belfast, no free child places on either - so why the big difference in price?

And just to add insult to injury same holday from Birmingham comes in at £1168.00.

I appreciate that the school year in England doesn't end until the middle of July which may explain the difference in the Birmingham holiday price - but why such a big difference in the Belfast flight holiday!! Maybe they just make up the prices as they go along.

Just returned from these excellent apartments, the location is spot on a few minutes down the path and your in the cc, the apartments were spotless and well equipped, huge balcony and thank god for the ceiling fans as it was so hot at night. The staff were lovely as were Disco Dave & Lovely Laura, they kept my 2 kids 21 mths & 8 yrs entertained day and night with their games and wacky songs. We ate at the restaurant twice and had snacks from the pool bar both were really nice, drinks are a little expensive from the pool bar but we just popped into the reception shop when we needed to get drinks its alot cheaper.
Overall these are the best apartments weve ever stayed in and this was our 8th visit to pr.
Also paid a few visits to Ma bakers when we went to the beach, the kids loved the sausage rolls and your apple turnovers went down a treat with me and hubby.
Carn't wait to return to the suites.

had that ourselves a few years back ...........how it works is that kids do not count when it comes to under occupancy charges and although they advertise free kid places two adults mean that in a apt for 5 there are three adults short so you have to pay for them. if you put the kids in as adults then that fills the apt no under occupancy charge. and yes we put ours on the booking as adults and saved a few bob.

A note to anyone who is thinking of booking the Sunsuites for 2009 is that Thomas Cook is relocating the kids clubs to the Altamar apartments. There is a possibility that the Terraza Mar will provide its own kids club but that is still to be decided. My 2 kids had a great time this year but looks like Thomas Cook has decided to relocate so we will have to decide whether to go up the hill or not?.

Hi all, I am new to the forum and going to Gran Canaria for the first time and wonder if anyone can help with a quick question, I have booked for 2 weeks from the 5th September with Globespan and it appears that they only use the suites which are the bottom tier, can anyone tell me if you still get a decent view from these suites, as that is one of the things that really makes good accomodation for me. I noticed as well that the apartments dont appear in the Thomas Cook brochure, does that mean they have pulled out and the Sunsuites and the Royals wont be as busy?

rab_c.
28th December 2008, 01:49 PM
no the view from the suites are not as good as the sunsuites or sunsuites royal. you will have to request a high floor reception level as if you land on the bottom floor you will have a building site as a view. however you can try for an upgrade to the sunsuites royal for a small amount they are up the highest point with great views thats if any are vacant just ask at reception when you arrive

direct holidays and airtours are still selling the sunsuites for next season and they are now a part of the thomas cook group so they have def not pulled the plug.

to be honest its not much of a building site

they have been building a church for 8 years and dont seem to have worked on it for at least 5 and the other building which looks like a car park havent seen them do any work on that for 3 years

the view to be honest is not that bad you over look the back of the commercial centre, which to be honest you look at the commercial centre wherever you stay in PR

it wont spoil your holiday (especially as your not effected by noise which you are in other hotels in PR from the commercial centre)

Dolly Dimple

please dont see it as a disaster, was at sunsuites in Sep, although the car park building is incomplete, there were no work going on at this time, should have also been in may but couldnt go, pals were there at this time also and again no work getting carried out.

Views not that great anyway regardless, but the Accomodation and the massive balconies sure made up for it, very quiet also.

I stayed in the Suites in June. Our apartment was on the third floor, which meant that there was only two flights of steps to negotiate to get to the ground floor. The apartment overlooked the building site, but as already stated there was absolutely no noise at all, and I hardly even noticed the view (and I am fussy). The commercial centre was very close :boozy:, but with none of the noise. Our apartment was modern, clean and of course with a huge balcony

I would probably say the top floor, this is where Reception, bar and pool area is.
There is lifts to all levels anyway so no need for sweating it doing the stairs.

I E.mailed them requesting top level when booked but didnt get a response and got the third level, no problems though it was still good.

Apartments are lovely, balconies HUGE and a good place to be situated in P.R.

You will definetly enjoy regardless what level you are on.

Hi,
The best floor for the SUNSUITES is any floor from 6 to 9.The pool area, entertainment is located on the 10th and 11th floor.I personally prefer the 8th as you don`t really need the lift from the 6th floor. If you need any more info feel free to ask.

the sunsuites or the sunsuites royal flem if it is the sunsuites I would sit still its a lot of money for more or less the same facilities.

and if its the sunsuites royal then the have air conditioning in the bedrooms at a cost of a further €36 per week but well worth it in sept.also the fridge freezers are huge from floor to ceiling great for keeping all your food errrr drink ice cold

Thanks Rab, it is the Sunsuites Royal that the upgrade would be for and it was per room per day, The e-mail was from Adela (very impressed with quick reply I was too), was just wondering if you think overall it would be worth the extra cost, not really worried about the room facilities as from what I read the facilities in the suites are really good anyway, I was thinking are they in a better location, better view, better pool area, easier to get sunbeds at pool area etc...

from my own point of view september can be very hot and I would pay the extra including the charge for air condition for peace of mind we once had a room with no a/c and it was a disaster no sleep for the heat and lying in bed with the sweat oothing from you and a temperature of 40c is so stressful will never be caught out that way again as it almost ruined a fantastic holiday.

location wise the position of the sunsuite royal are the best for views etc ask for a high room top flor pool level if possible. think its either 4 or 5 floors high we have friends who book the suites 3 times a year and usually plump for the royal if possible I have spent time with them at the sunsuites royal on the balcony with a few drinks and it was lovely, there is no need to worry about getting a lounger at any of the suites as due to massive balconies with loungers on them all lots of people just use their own facilities you can use any of the three pools and facilites as a guest but the sunsuites royal is laid back and if you were to use the loungers and pool in them you will find they are the lesser used of the lot and may find you are the only ones using them.

the sunsuites facilities you just walk across the road from the sunsuites royal and the pool and bar facilities are all on the top level as you enter so no stairs to manouvre and this is where all the action is. you can also go down to the main commercial centre using the lifts in all three complexes but its best just to enjoy the leisurely walk down and taxi back up for a few euros. at the end of the day its your own decision but whatever you choose you will most certainly have a lovely time.

the sunsuites or the sunsuites royal flem if it is the sunsuites I would sit still its a lot of money for more or less the same facilities.

and if its the sunsuites royal then the have air conditioning in the bedrooms at a cost of a further €36 per week but well worth it in sept.also the fridge freezers are huge from floor to ceiling great for keeping all your food errrr drink ice cold
are they quoting €15 a day each to upgrade or per room were they specific? and was it adele you spoke with

some pics of the sunsuites royal here http://rab.c.fotopic.net/c1295935.html
You can also hire Air Conditioning at the Sunsuites. It is exactly the same unit as is located in the Royal. Both are situated in the bedrooms. The Sunsuites Royal are more plush as Rab says but the shower in the bathroom is a bit of a let down with a shower curtain trying to keep the water in the tray compared to the Sunsuites where it has an enclosed unit.I myself would not pay the extra money to upgrade as the Sunsuites are more than sufficient more most peoples needs.

An update to this is that I spoke to a Thomas Cook advisor during the week and she told me that according to her information there will in fact be a kids club at the Sunsuites.I will now be looking to book here.

Hi there!

New member Claire (and Emma) here but not newcomers to GC having been a regular to the island since 1992. Emma is my 10 year old daughter and been 23 times - yes I should have bought a house here long ago!
Been to Terraza Mar 7 times in last 3 years and just returned after Easter break. Having been in the lower 'yellow umbrella' complex and it was closing just as we left (yes, we were the last room out of the side door once the pool, shop, reception and everything else closed!!) for some maintenance - the first time I've noticed perhaps the impact of the credit crunch in that so few UK and in particular Scottish visitors there. Pretty deserted the whole time. Resort as a whole quieter than I have seen before.
We are back 11 July for 2 weeks and hope to see more people back.
Terraza Mar now alsow doing 42euro private taxi airport transfer through Lotta. Was fine on the arrival, taxi there and waiting. Different story on the way home though. Paid 42euro and waited and waited - thankfully Lotta was on reception when the guy hadn't turned up. Got money back but taxi to airport was 58euro on the meter - lucky I had 18euro extra for 16euro additional cost and a measly 2euro tip - beware anyone else doing this. I'll be telling Lotta this in July - if he doesn't turn up - don't give me my money back - you book the taxi and pay for it!!!
Still love GC as my second home!

Hiya,

Does anyone know why Terrazamar Apts are closing?? what kind of maintenance? is there a refurb?
Really loved these Apartments, would definetly book again and if getting "done up" then that a Brucey bonus!

It's a pity if they're closing due to lack of booking. I stayed in that part last year, and I found them more than adequate for my needs. They were very close to the ground floor (only two flights of steps), and more importantly the commerical centre:wink:.

At this time of year, hotels etc consolidate their booking. So if they have two hotels under the same owner, then they will put everyone together. less costs and an opportunity to tidy up one area. It is quieter at the mo' that it normally is but the closing of hotels is normal for this time of year.
As we are a 365 day resort, places have to close at different times to be able to catch up with themselves. Other places, like on the mainland, can use the winter to catch up.
So dont worry, we are all still here and the island will be ready for you all when you come on your hols

Hello!
Thefts in this unit don´t happen very often, but things DO go missing from the rooms now and again. You should always rent a safe!

Just a reminder:
1. Rent a safe
2.Never bring cash.
3.Don´t bring anything of value on holiday
4.If you have to bring a mobile phone on holiday then buy a cheap one for travelling!
5.And never keep your pin numbers with your credit cards.

regards,
Mr M

The safety deposit boxes at the sunsuites are kept in a room adjacent to the reception instead of in the apartment which i feel is safer since i have heard of places where safes arent broken into in the rooms but actually the whole safe is removed from the room. Hopefully being in reception area makes the safes safer !!!

When you rent a safe,on the back of the receipt it will tell you the amount for what you are covered for.(300 euros to 1500 euros) depending on your hotel. The average is 600 euros.THE HOTEL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE IF SOMETHING GOES MISSING FROM THE SAFE!
(although if the safe has been forced open or the whole safe stolen then The hotel has to work with ¨the safe insurance company¨ and pay out ¨ON THE SPOT¨ (whilst you are on the island!).

Just booked into the Terrazmazar yesterday.
The balconies are indeed huge.

In the kitchen there are ample dishes and cutlery. 2 ring hob. kettle and a coffee maker. a decent sized fridge and a microwave.
2 tables and 3 chairs in living room a coffee table and an eating at table. Good sized settee that I take converts into a sofa bed.

Bedrooms are average sized with lots of wardrobe space and sideboard sorta thing.

On the balcony there is a full sized hairy parasol. A large plastic clothes drying horse. 3 chairs, 2 full sized sunbeds. and a table with 3 chairs.

lost the sun on the balcony at 6.20 tonight so a lot off sunshine to be had.

Only fault we can find is there is NO air conditioning. Instead there is a ceiling fan in the living room and another over the beds in the bedroom and last night it was pretty hot.

The pool is a little small and the depth is the same wherever you are in it, but there are plenty of sunbeds and the cafe bar do a happy hour 4-5 and 9-10.

Is just a short walk to the main CC but gate shuts at 11.45 so its a walk round the hill or up a long flight of steps if you go home after 11.45.

Overall for the balconies themselves think we have made a good choice.

Hi,
It depends what you mean by a waste of money.

The temperatures can still be very hot in Oct, although there are ceiling fans in the lounge and bedroom area that might not be adequate for you.

You can pay at any time for the air conditioning so maybe just see what its like when you get there, you can also pay a week at a time so not commiting to shelling out 2 weeks worth.

Enjoy youre holidays, Terazzemar Aprts are fab.

Just returned last night from these apartments, to answer the last couple of questions there is entertainment in the evenings but it was mainly Thomas cook rep shows with the occasional local act, never stayed to watch as from what we saw it was not up to much, Dont know about half board but the all inclusive guests basically had the same choice from the resturant as paying guests which was really good, the all inclusive guests which we spoke to were kind of let down by the fact that the main bar area was dead and not really a place to have a good time, the apartments were really quiet and the suits are closed with everyone being put in the sunsuites. Would recommend that if you are going full board or all inclusive then go to apartments that specialize in this, as being in the minority when most other self catering guests left to go out for the evening left a few of them looking bored. If however you are wanting a base for a self catering holiday, these apartments would be hard to beat.
