Hi, After reading raves about Oasis on this forum, we went up there in November to sample the food. We had a wonderful meal then discovered it had been taken over and was now 'ROBERTO'S', which I would recommend to anyone, absolutely fabulous is the only way to describe the meal we had. My question is - did 'Oasis' relocate? We're coming over at the beginning of March for another week and we're always keen to try new places to eat. Basically, we were looking forward to trying 'Oasis', so can anyone tell me if it's moved and/or changed names?

I like the sound of the 'Buddy Holly Diner', gonna try that too!:boozy:

Went for a meal at Oasis a few days after Christmas with my wife as was rather disappointed. While the restaurant is rather spacious, only one other couple dined with us. Staff consisted of one waiter and one cook. I got the impression that the cook was not experencied or was new in the place as the waiter appeared to show him how to do a lot of things. Meal was very average and prices was typical of many restaurants.
As it was highly praised in this forum, we decided to give it a try, passing many restaurants which were full or almost full (it was high season) to arrive at this highly acclaimed restaurant with one table occupied. We did ask ourselves the question, "if it is as good as proclaimed, how come it didn't have more customers"? Our mediocre meal (all 3 courses) answered it for us.
I am always cautious about critising restaurants based on one visit as every restaurant can have a bad night or new staff which need a settling in period. Maybe it is going through a difficult time and will eventually get it's competitive edge back.

went to the oasis for a meal last week.
very good meal.
small and friendly place.
even gave me two steaks cos the one i ordered looked to be shrinking during cooking.
filled me up and then had the free cake with the drink when paid bill.
did not have to eat much next day.
frozen veg though.
why do they not serve fresh veg in many places.
