Hey Everyone - Great site by the way.

Some Friends & I are planning to go to Gran Canaria Last Week in Nov this year and we can't decide between these 2 destinations. Any expert views from people who have been to both?

We are 3 single blokes in our Early 30's. Like good food (espec local), a few beers (occasionally a few too many!) probably want to be fairly active in the day rather sitting on beaches. Want to have a good time a night but probably not downing tequilas until 6am in a club and being sick on our own shoes. Where's best to go for a happy medium?

I'm worried that PDI sounds a bit too 'Benidorm' but that Puerto Rico might be too quiet & Coupley - we don't want to be the only single people there!

All comments welcome - Thanks
Adam.

Playa certainly isn't anything like Benidorm. With Playa you have the majority of the pubs in centres such as the Plazz, Kasbah, Irish, Yumbo, Gran Chapparel etc. In between that its nice and quiet with odd restaurants and pubs dotted about throughout the resort. No strips of pubs etc to worry about, you know where to go for the main nightlife and where to go if you want a quieter night. Playa for me although nothing against Puerto Rico whatsoever, just a personal choice.

Puerto Rico has two centres - the top one - europa maybe a bit more family orientated bu the bottom one certainly has groups of non-coupley people.
Both PDI and PR have bars, restaurants, clubs to do what you want. They also both have water sports etc. PDI has a bigger beach for surfing etc.
Stay in one and taxi to the other - they're not too far apart

We have been going to Gran Canaria for almost 6 years now. A friend reccommended PDI rather than PR & it is a personal thing but we love PDI. We go to PR for the day every so often but prefer to stay in PDI. So much so that we bought an appartment in PDI in 2004. But there is a brilliant atmosphere in either resort. Wherever you stay I'm sure you will have a great time. We return there on 16th November & can't wait. Might see you around.:have-fun:

PDI gets my vote! It's well situated for trips into the mountains, nearer the capital and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes - oh, and it's flatter (handy if you DO have too many tequilas!). :have-fun:
