In your opinion, do you find that if you book flights last minute instead of months in advance they are a lot cheaper? Or is there not a great difference?
Just trying to work out if we will be cheaper doing a package deal or doing flights and accomodation seperately. :thumb:

soem times they can but at the moment the canaries are not really CHEAP best one i have found is BA they are working out a lot cheaper for scheduled flights to all of the canaries than any off the charters , as there are less flights and less accom the only way if the prices will be very cheap if they need to sell seats on the plane but that seems to be very rare as a lot of people are using separate flights and then seperate accom , so there is a surplus in accom but no flights

aslo you need to be flexiable of which airport you can go from if

over the last 3 years i have mainly done last minute package deals about 5-6 weeks before i wanted to go and the prices were ok but not brilliant. In november we did it 3 weeks before and booked accom and flight separate and was much cheaper. we decided we wanted to go in june and booked about two weeks ago and we have got 10 nights for £245 (flight and acom). we got acom on www.findmeacom.com (http://www.findmeacom.com) and 4 sharing 1 bungalow and 2 in other another it was £70 each and flights were £175 each from manchester on www.travelrepublic.co.uk (http://www.travelrepublic.co.uk). It cheapest hol ive ever done to pdi and we are staying acom we always stay in so i have to say booking 6 mnths in advance has worked for us

Bluemoonsteve is correct. Britsh Airways offer the best deals but you need to book well in advance.Lucky i booked a few months ago for March because the price has shot up for a Saturday flight. Book Tuesday to Tuesday and you get a return for £95.What you have to remember, flights with the travel companys is all the little extras, Food , drinks ,seats together all cost but not with BA. You can check in with British Airways over the internet and pick your seats. Brilliant...........as long as the :censored: don't go on strike....again.

you have also to remember these flight prices are from down south so you have the added hassle of travelling to these airports from scotland which more or less puts the price a lot higher.
at the end of the day you are cheaper with the likes of globespan out of scotland and less hassle with connecting flights etc.

Aye, think we would be better doing a package deal with the likes of thomascook. At least we can fly out of aberdeen that way and save ourselves any extra hassle.

Cheers guys.

Hoping to book it next week! Yipee!!

Had a look at their web site ( globespan) and they look really cheap. To be honest i'd never heard of them. Lucky for Scotland they exist. British Airways still look the best bet for South England...of course we can all say this cheaper or this is better but it all depends on where you live and your circumstances...

BA arethe best bet by roughley £150 p/p from Manchester as well . to all canaries my parents have saved £300 using BA instead of a charter also BA fly from ABAERDEEN to Manchester dependent one what date you are going doing the ABA-MAN-LPA and using a apt from Owen MAY work out cheaper than using a package out of ABERDEEN

If not booking a package we use flyglobespan from Glasgow but to be honest by the time you add the tax, insurance and transfers from the airport it works about the same as a package deal.

For many years we booked through travel agents, but we have found booking it all with Owen, and flight separate we have managed to stretch to another holiday each year, for the last three years.

I think travel agents have had there day. Last September i went into one to check out a weeks half-term holiday. I then left the shop and went into a internet cafe a few yards up the road and booked the same holiday same flights same company for £400 cheaper...

Twice now we have booked flight only and saved some dough, but both times we have had hassle with the flights and sometimes transfers. We saved £1000.00. on our family holiday at Xmas this year, that we booked 11 months in advance, but were messed around so much with flight changes. We had our friend from Zante (Adonis) coming with us. We paid extra to have his flight arriving 15 minutes after ours, then 2 weeks before Xmas they changed our flight times to 4 hrs later going out and 6 hrs earlier coming home. We lost the best part of a day.
Package for me in future.
