We own an apartment in the village of Chayofa and have stayed in one of the villas at the Chayofa CC in the past so don't know what the apartments are like but if they are anything like the villas they will be excellent. We did use the on-site restaurant and it was fine but mostly we went into Los Cristianos.
Chayofa village itself is beautiful, very peaceful and pretty, which is one of the reasons for us purchasing property there. It has few facilities, there are a handful of fairly pricey restaurants and a couple of mini-markets and thats about it. I can recommend Clarets restaurant but I have to say that it is very pricey. There is a regular bus service into Los Cristianos, the trip takes less than ten minutes. A taxi to/from the village is around 5 euros. If you have a car and want to experience something more 'Canarian' drive inland away from Los Cristianos to the nearby towns of La Camella and San Lorenzo. Here you can find local bars and restaurants, which besides being more traditional, are also a lot cheaper than on the coast. If you drive through San Lorenzo and carry on into the mountains on the road to San Miguel, you will arrive the restaurant La Centinela, it's on a slip-road on the right-hand side of the road on a sharp bend left-hand bend. This is in a spectacular mirador location overlooking the south coast and has a massive "picture window" so you can look at the view while you eat. The food is excellent and well priced. Check this out for pictures http://www.tenerifetimes.com/content/view/86/1/
Just up from the village of Chayofa is the 'Jungle Park' (or Parque las Aguilas), which has fantastic bird of prey shows two or three times a day.
I would recommend hiring a car when staying in Chayofa and driving inland to see the 'real Tenerife'.

we got back from Tenerife this weekend after 2 weeks at Chayofa.
The Country Club is definately trading on it's past. It used to be a Gold Crown resort but due to lack of maintenance is now fairly standard and somewhat tired. The apartments definately need refurbishment as do some areas around the complex. There was evidence of penny pinching by the management company. It was kept clean though.
This aside we had a great holiday. The bar and onsite restaurant were good and gave good value for money and a quality service. They offer a half board option which is 18€ per day and gives you a full buffet breakfast plus full english and a 3 course evening meal from the a la carte menu. People who used this had a late breakfast which lasted them until until the evening. The evening menu was good and had a variety of specials.
The entertainment was fairly typical but had some good shows. It also had a 2 week turnaround so we only saw each show once.
All the staff were excellent which helped us have a good time.
I would go again but only if it was refurbished.

Trot,
sorry to hear about the apartments at Chayofa CC, they must be spending all the maintenance money on the villas. Having said that, it's over two years since we were there. Incidentally, there is another timeshare complex opposite our apartment complex in Chayofa called The Regency Club. Some friends of our who recently stayed in our apartment went in to use the restaurant and said that it is really wonderful and the whole place seemed vey upmarket. They were very taken with the infinity pool and surrounding area. If you plan another holiday to Tenerife, it may be worth looknig at this as an alternative.

we've been looking at another break at Chayofa but their website has disappeared. Does anyone know what has happened?
Have the Russians taken over and excluded the other timeshare guests?
Can anyone in Chayofa let me know whats happening.:have-fun:

Hi Trot,
Only just noticed your post as I have now moved to Chayofa full-time and don't read the forum as often. I'm not sure what happened to the website for CCC but the complex is still open. A relative of ours stayed there recently and said more or less the same as you did after your previous visit about the apartment being a bit 'tired'.
I found the following comments regarding the villas at the Club quite interesting:

We stayed at one of the villas in 2004 and it was very good but it seems they have let these slide as well.
There is another timeshare across the road from where we live and it has a very good reputation. The website is:

Unfortunately, this is all probably too late to be of any use to you.
