Going to the Cala D' Or on Mon 23 Jan. :packed:
Been going to the Cala D' Or for 12 years now. Very friendly funny barstaff. Staff all feel like family to us now been going so long.
Apartments are spotless with maids in almost every day. Entertainment is usually very good catering for all ages. The usual Bingo kids games and quizzes in the evenings and usually a cabaret of some sort somewhere along the line. Pool always freezing, even in the summer but once you're in its fine.
They also doing a cracking Bar B Q night.
6 days a week from about 11.30 am to 3pm there is poolside entertainment with Killer Pool, Killer darts pistol shooting, quizzes and the guys come in from the marina areas to teach the basics of scuba diving. Throughout the day there is music played by the poolside something for everyone.
Sure you will love these appartments. Haven't heard anyone give a bad report on them yet.

Cala D'Or has entertainment 6 days a week all year round. He only has a Monday off. There is also entertainment around the poolside throughout the day with Killer Pool, Killer Darts, Hair Braiding skin specialist selling their expensive sun products and jewellery suppliers
The entertainment is supplied by Dave the Rave. Or young Dave as he likes to be called. I was the ladies pool champion one of the days (I was the only female playiing but it sounds good)
The poolside is very friendly and not too big and if you join in all the activities its a great way of getting to know all the other holiday makers around you. You will have a Fabby Dooo time at the Cala D' Or I'm sure of it.

Thanks Rab, and Roxy. Although we're staying next to the commecial centre, fully intend going up to Europa as well. Especially interested in trying Pickwicks. Having read so much about it from yourself and others on the forum.
Thanks again

Thanks Rab
I'll try this now. Unfortunatey I only know 'menu' Spanish, so it'll have to be in English I'm afraid.
If I don't get a reply, I'll phone tomorrow, (leaving tomorrow night).
Its not really life or death, just wanted to make sure there was 24 hour reception because of the time we're arriving, and to get an appartment request.
Thanks for your help.

Yes it is manned 24 hours, there is a security guard who watched a black and white portable TV and he sorts you out, well he did 2 years ago !

The staff at the Cala D'Or and the Cala Nova speak fluent english so it is not a problem if you mail in Spanish or English you will always get a reply.
Security Man at the Cala D'Or is Manuel...his bark is worse than his bite. Buy him a good quality cigar and he'll be your best mate for life. He will make out he can't speak English but tut..tut..tut.. yes he can. I overheard a phone conversation he had and I can assure you he understands and can speak english. Crafty

Good morning !!
I wonder if anybody can tell me if there are televisions in the Cala D'Or apartments.
If not, could one be hired from somewhere if they have arial sockets there?
Don't normally bother but as we are hoping to book for a month we will not be going out EVERY night (I don't think) and will need some diversion.
Thanks. JAPP.:thankyou:

Been going to Cala D'Or for 12 years now.
No T.V's I'm affraid butI think it does have an aerial socket.
I think you may be able to hire a T.V from Cristina's money exchange place which is just down the steps beside the taxi rank along from Cafe Central. They hire out loads of stuff but you could also ask at the Cala D'Or reception.

Regards JAPP.

The launderette is under Churchills
Instead of going upstairs to Scruffy Murphys Churchills etc, go down into the basement.
Turn left and walk along the long corridor the is a hardware shop and other things down there.
We usually get 2 washes done and drying with your soap powder etc and its 7 €uro. The lady does a service wash for you and even bags it all nice and flat for your return. she's a wee star.

Hi Japp
You can hire TV's from the Cala Dor reception. Some of the aerial sockets in the rooms do not work as they have not been required for years. Even if you do get them to work, you will only pick up spanish TV.
There are TV's in the bar with spanish satellite tv and there is a link from the Sky TV at the Cala Nova and at this time of year, you can feel free to sit there without feeling the need to but a drink - we're pretty laid back!
