Sea Fishing

Hi all,lm going over to Puerto de la cruz next week.And as l have an interest in sea fishing l thought l would give it a go,while on holiday.
The things l would like to know are, whats the best bait to use,rigs tackle to use,and are there any hotspots in the area lm staying.
Also what fish would l expect to catch.Do l need a licence to fish say from an harbour wall.?
Thanks for looking at my many questions,l know its not everybodys cup of tea fishing,but as the saying goes "Horses for courses".

stayed in p. de la cruz a few years ago.
never been asked for a licence of any sort whilst fishing in canaries or any greek isles.
found the best bait to be shrimps.
caught plenty of small fish from harbour wall whilst there and there was even a fishing match on the sunday by a local club.
i prefer to float fish but have caught plenty using a small ledger weight as well.
there is also a local tackle shop but cannot remember exactley where it was.
