Hi, Just wondered if anyone knew of the cheapest company to book through for the carlota appartments?

We have been for the past 2 years and love it!! We firstly went through Broadway travel then booked with alpha rooms last year where we paid £120 for the week.

It appears the prices have gone up this year though and different companies have different rates.

Just want to find a bargin for a fab week!!!

Cant wait to get out there again in March!!! :D

We have been there several times and we book through Bedbookers. Thats the cheapest we have found. www.bedbookers.com

I also normally book the Carlota via alpharooms but use www.apartmentsabroad.co.uk (http://www.apartmentsabroad.co.uk) if alpharooms have no availability.

Re prices, these do seem to have gone up this year; last year I paid between £120 and £130 - I'm out there next week and it's £160 for the week.

Cheers:D

PS - I'll be going out again in March and just seen that the cost for beginning of March is also £160 per bedbookers, so it looks like they've put up the cost. Don't know the reason for increase - possibly because they've refurbished the apartments (see my thread below re Building Work).

Hi.

We are going back to the Carlota on 9th March for our 3rd time in these apartments. The first two visits were booked through alpharooms but this year we have booked through www.grancanaria-accommodations.com (http://www.grancanaria-accommodations.com) who were cheaper than any other company including all the others mentioned in other posts in this thread.

Aparantly the reason for all accomodation being more expensive this time of year is that it is 'scandanavian season'. So ripping these people off with extortionate prices doesn't just rip off scandanavians, but us brits too.

Happy Hunting.

Regards.

Thanks Guys,

Will have a browse at the above sites. Cant wait to get back over there for a few beers round the pool served by Gus or Antonio!!!

Out of interest just looked at prices for April and they have gone up too. So it must be a general price hike!! Oh well, it's still a good price!!

Might see some of ya over there then - we are going over on 4th March for a week!!

hi doodle

if you've not booked the carlota already, it might be worth looking at pineapple holidays website (www.pineapple-holidays.co.uk (http://www.pineapple-holidays.co.uk)). the boyf and i stayed at the carlota for two weeks over new year 2004/5, booked it about three weeks before we went and it was £480 in total, which i didn't think was bad for the time of year we were going.

hth, :D

I was there in October last year and they are OK - basic but clean and in a really good location - don't really notice the noise coming from the centre at all (when we stayed at the Cumana on the opposite side found it quite noisy).

i stayed here in feb 2004, good little apartments, very basic but clean and have all you need in them. Very good location, nice clean pool, and good food in the pool bar. Only problems were the lift broke down a couple of times, and if i remember rightly we struggled to get in through the door some nights when we came back late as our key didnt always work.

Overall a good basic and cheap place to stay, i would stay here again.

I am soooo jealous!!
We love the carlota appts. We have been there for the last two years and were hoping to go out next week but due to other things happening in life probably not going now!!!
 :sadguy:

They are cheap and cheerful, clean and staff are all friendly - especially Gus and Antonio the bar men. They have a fab BBQ on friday nights which is fab and happy hour every day is great too!
It's a bit of a trek up the steps after a night out but a taxi is cheap enough!!
I understand they have just had a refurb too.
Hope you have a fab time and you never know - if a miricle happens we might see ya there (hoping to get out 4th March)!!!

Sandy

I regularly go to the Carlota - going out again on Monday!

Although classified as 2 key, they are a bit basic and if you want a brew then you need to hire a kettle (or take your own). Not a bad view across the valley and overlooks the back (Fase 4) of the lower main CC. It's very convenient for the CC - either turn right go past the Tamanaco and down only one set of steps (bit dodgy under foot) bringing you out opposite the back of the CC, or turn left and down the steps in front of the Castillo De Sol - two flights - brings you out opposite the Spar almost next to the Amigos Internet cafe (better under foot but slightly longer).

There has been a couple of threads re the Carlota. See the following link for the latest thread -
http://www.canaryforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=633

Hope this helps.

Hi Folks.

I have been looking to book the Carlota Apts for next July and no companies seem to be selling them.
Can anyone (especially people living out in PR) make enquiries as to why and post a reply on this thread, please.

Kind Regards.

Hi Redswanlady.

Have stayed in the Carlota Apartments 3 times now (2004,2005,2006) and think they are brilliant for the money you pay.
Fair enough they are basic but the maids have always done an excellent job, so too the receptionist and also the barstaff (Gus and Carlos, but before him it was Antonio who we went to see at the Heliomar Bar in March).
The best way to describe is is a respectable base within easy walking distance to the commercial centre, a bit futher but still a nice stroll to the beach. It also has a very nice, clean pool with ample sunbathing area and you get the sun until late when it goes behind the hill over the other side.
I doubt very much if you will be disappointed here.
Listen me, I am getting very jealous of you and it's only 6 very, very long months since I was last there.
Enjoy you're stay. Have a FAB time.

Hi,

Stayed in the Carlota last Feb/Mar and we had no problem with noise. As gets cool at night you tend the keep the patio doors closed so you can't hear a thing.

sjw8
3rd December 2006, 01:07 PM
Agree with what's already been posted. Although the apartments overlook the main centre, you miss most of the noise due to its situation further along the valley. I tend to be out ad about until around 2.30 / 3.00 a.m. by which time most of the noise has died down from the bars at that end of the centre.

Has anyone got any ideas if the bar at the carlota will be open in the evenings in the last week of march? We went last year (as the 2 years before that too) and were disapointed that the bar only opened for a few hours during the day as the appts. were so quiet. It was not the same having the bar shut at 3pm ish and open agin in the morning - we dont want to go back if it will be a repeat as before! Which is a shame as it's a great cheap and cheerful place to go for a week!

Just back from Carlota this morning. bar opened anytime between 10.45 ans 11.30. Drak was very nice but nothing in the way of supermarket...although he did get large waters in on Tuesday which saved lugging it from elsewhere. Prices were different everytime from bar for lollies , drinks etc. Could have a decent wee shop ....if they ever get organised and get it going.

Just back from a week in Carlotta. Nice wee apartments. Pretty basic but very clean. No beasties at all  .

No problems in getting a sun lounger either which was great. Food good at pool bar and staff really nice.

We had room 104. Great as only one set of stairs to walk up but our bedroom was against the stair wall and yes everyone who came in and out battered up and down the stairs. Only bad point of the week.

Would certainly go back.

as previously mentioned the apartments are pretty basic. No kettle or toaster but these can be hired at reception along with fans if you need them.

They are very handy for the commercial centre. The walk down the stairs is ok about 100 steps if i recall but it wasnt hard work.

Nice wee pool and pool bar is great.

Haven't been to PR for a couple of years but stayed 3 times at the Carlota.
Yes the sun gets to the other side of the valley earlier than the Carlota side but the added bonus is that you get the sun for the rest of the day, a hell of a lot longer than the Europa side of the valley.
I can remember sunbathing so late that the missus has had to shout me to get ready to go out because everybody else are waiting for me.
My opinion is this is the better side to stay.
Hope this helps.

We have stayed at the Carlota / casablanca / Tamanaco and the Terazamar sun suites.
We found the Sun Suites to be by far the best.
It has everything you need, and you can get to the Commercial Centre without all the steps if you use the lift in the Terazamar Suites across the road.
We are already booked for March next year.

just to say last month the back gate from Terrazamar was closed from 10.30pm which was a bit of a bummer...although I suppose it improves security. It would be good if they could fix it so it would open with a room keycard

Muzicdude

When the gate is closed all you have to do is walk on the road and up the hill to the front entrance to the Terrazamar. There's no steps to climb, doesn't take too long and it also helps you to sober up after a night on the tiles :boozy::fatgrin:.
