Having read previous threads regarding apartment security and the fears that even safety deposit books were at risk I was wondering if it made sence to leave your holiday dosh in your irish/uk bank account and withdraw it from the ATM's as you need it? Are ATM's readily available and reliable, and does most ATM cards work in them?

That cockroach thread is still macking me feel ill :(

Yes there are lots of cash point machine thingies here. Make sure your bank knows you are going abroad and so may be making more withdrawals than usual.

Same applies to credit cards for purchases...best to tell provider where you will be and when...this can save a security issues flagging up

HI everyone:thumb: this year iv'e gone for american express travellers cheque card . you can use it at atm's shops banks they are the same as normal travellers cheques so if lost or stolen it is replaced asap there is a fee of 2 euro same as cashing a cheque. i was concerned that how long would it take a bank to reissue another card . just so you know i dont work for them.but i feel you get the best of both worlds.see you tomorrow in pr:packed:

a new thing avaiable is a card from the post office same size as a ATM card you pay whatever amount onto it and you get a pin number for it.you then can use it anywhere to tale money out, and the good thing is any money left on it is still valid back home.
